lakhnish
With Klaus, you know that the boss will spawn in 2 biomes; either in the mosaic biome or your deciduous biome(s). Finding the first Klaus is fine imo though finding the 2nd Klaus and beyond can get annoying after a while. With this boss, it can spawn anywhere on the mainland and it's quite a bit annoying at that. It's definitely more of a headache finding it the first time around since it can spawn in so many places but it's not too big of a deal since you'll find the first time from just exploring your world after it spawns on day 2. However, having to potentially explore your entire world just to find it again 20 days after defeating it doesn't sound fun. A way to find the boss again more easily would be nice since I don't see the spawning mechanism of this boss changing. Archswifter
Sort sort of set pieces in set biomes sounds best to me, in this case similar to Klaus but more akin to what other mainland set pieces have going for them, if a change like this does happen then late game some players won't have to worry about it spawning someplace undesirable like the Moonstorms do. The boss seems like it'd do more damage than moonstorms ever could if it could spawn anywhere after all. That’s a lot of set pieces to build. Even if a player were to systematically block off spawners after every fight it will still be well over 1,000 days before you’d hope to reduce those down to a few or just one. Lakh is right, we need fewer spawners in a limited number of biomes. Or give us a tracker that’s craftable from dreadstone. EDIT: sorry if I misread what you were proposing. Are you talking player-built set pieces or naturally-generated ones? Are you talking player-built set pieces or naturally-generated ones? I typed this out late in the night, I wholeheartedly agree with lakhnish's take but I mentioned that I'd prefer it to have something similar to what Klaus has, in which he can only spawn in 2 biomes but in this case not nearly as annoying to find. Something inherently obvious, like the naturally spawning set pieces in the world. I figured since it's already chained to Marble Pillars it'd come with it's own unique marble themed naturally spawning set piece. Or given it's current random spawn location theme, 2-3 set-pieces where he'd be able to spawn in certain biomes like Klaus, the first on my mind was one of the dark forests with the occasional mandrake, moonstone, or pig village. Anything really to make it more interesting than it is now really in terms of where and how it appears, it's lacking but the beta isn't over yet afterall. They're usually filled with graves and hostiles as well as the occasional pigs/village so they seemed like the perfect place for the new boss. These area's I mean: Spoiler I haven't played in a while but this is just something along the lines of what I imagined when I first saw the new boss, something marble, pig guardians, etc; Spoiler Just something to remind me of the older set pieces with pig guards and flowers and what not but with the new turfs since we only have 2 so far with said turfs (I think). Dingle
I'd like to see it as a set spawn in Mandrake Forest. It's a guaranteed biome that you have little to no reason to revisit once you get the mandrakes. Mike23Ua
So uhh remember the devs talking about how a future update was going to change the way our worlds generate and effect how we play the game a little more? I’m pretty sure that means that your entirely predictable spawning locations of things is about to get thrown out the Window… and the Werepig is the start of that, but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they don’t go back and update other spawning objects as well.. such as Klaus. Lets just face facts: Werepig = 2023 content update, Klei’s technology and design choices have changed over the years, Klaus: Outdated fight from ages ago that will likely get changed made to it like how Ancient Guardian was. That said: they could just make a small set piece like the Terrarium chest, and then the spawning location of the boss comes from a portable Device you use to summon it. The ONLY thing I want from this new Daywalker boss fight is an Adorable little Werewolf Pet Den Critter… Look, if the Eye for an Eye Update can have me fight an Eye boss to get ingredients to make an Eye pet, This Werepig can get a Pet den critter too. Well-met
One of those pointless biomes like the second swamp could be nice Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/146333-im-not-a-fan-of-the-random-spawn-location-of-the-werepig-boss/#findComment-1623672 Share on other sites
