What items in DST you don't remember the last time you used ?

You a woodie main? Or do you just make mobs break wood for you?

I often join late in pub, so when ever i join a world, their base already filled with wood, and even if not, they have more gold than flint (and flint are needed for thermal stone, which very important for harsh season), which make me, if ever need wood, make Luxury_Axe.webp.fea584c3a02b755c8598636861216ced.webp instead. Then the maxwell update come. At least i havent craft a single axe since.

People say Maxwell isn't overpowered but this guy hasn't even needed to find two twigs to make an axe since the rework came out SMH.

overpowered is an underestimate statement for maxwell. Could you imagine someone with DPS of wanda/wolfgang, farming capability of wicker bottom, logs chopping gathering capability of 3 woodies, and, have passive sanity bonus?

But most his power got enchanted by Charlie, the final goal of this game, encore at that, we deserve to know a glimpse of Charlie's true power through Maxwell rework.

Im pretty sure pocket scale is the only item I've never bothered to prototype. If you desperately need heavy fish (for Pearl), just use the heavy lure to begin with. The only use I can think of is if you want to create a pirate themed area in your megabase, it might make for a decent decoration on the ground.

Pocket scale is very useful in letting you know which fish you can eat and which to save for pearl. On the ocean fish are the main food around.

Do pocket scale have specific quote if fish is heavy weight? else, how is it useful if you cant remember how much each fish weight needed? The time needed for wiki might as well go fish another fish.

each character has an unique quote when a fish is big

It's a double line like the wall inspection quotes are if it's something you can give to pearl. It's something like

789.3 pounds

Look at the size of that thing!

I just look through the code and the quote only appear if fish is above 80% weight while hermit accept 70% weight, so this is just heavy lure with extra step. If you use normal lure then scale, 20% of the fish you caught going to be inspected as heavy, and 10% of those fish arent inspected as heavy, but can be given to pearl.
From 20% total fish as heavy -> 30% total fish as heavy is a 50% increase in efficiency, so it is better to give pearl all you fish and only eat them after pearl inspect instead of trusting 100% from pocket scale.

Unlike heavy weight lure that have 100% attraction to heavy fish, pocket scale doesnt make fishing heavy fish any easier, so crafting it is a waste for pearl quest.

Let say it take you 1 minute to fish a fish, and 2 miniutes to fish them with heavy weighted lure as heavy fish are rarer, to get 5 big fish:
10 minutes needed if you heavy lure. (5 fish with 80% weight)
16.67 minutes needed if you fish them normally and give them all to pearl. (16.6 fish, 5 of them are 70% weight.)
25 minutes needed if you fish them, eat all fish not show as heavy fish with pocket scale, then give the big fish to pearl. (25 fish, 5 of them are 80% weight.)

Chef's pouch. Far worse in multiplayer so it wouldn't overshadow the insulated pack but after using it once in my first Warly run, I never used it again. Not as efficient spoilage wise as a fridge and less slots than a backpack. Not terrible, but even as Warly, I don't find myself incentivized to use it over the backpack and especially over the insulated pack.

Some items that I rarely ever use intentionally are: Hambats, Razors & Bird Cages.

Hambats because I have like 50 billion spear skins & the Hambats spoil overtime.

Razors because I actually enjoy the added challenge of needing to slaughter the Beefalo to obtain its wools.

Bird Cage because this one single item completely breaks the entire game, BC + Trapped Bird + Monster Meat = Eggs for Pierogi forever! Remove this one item from the game… and suddenly you need to steal your eggs from mobs that have them (currently that’s only Pengull & Tallbird) but Hamlet/Shipwrecked also had snakes and scorpions that dropped them as well.

Sure maybe I’m intentionally handicapping my gameplay, but I enjoy actually needing to be occasionally tasked with “survival” in a survival game, and just standing around feeding MM to a bird for the craziest OP of heals + Hunger isn’t my idea of survival.

This is the most deranged thing I've ever read from a devoted dst player. I guess you just like getting creative with how to make things difficult for yourself? Huge no for me. And what weird justification for not using the two most useful items in the game, especially from a Wendy main.

Maining a character doesn’t mean you don’t play other characters, on Xbox my save files are limited to 5 storage slots and those characters currently are: Wolfgang, Wickerbottom, Maxwell, Wurt, & Wendy.

I also have NEVER used a Meat Effigy, or a Life Giving Amulet & have only used the celestial portal to character swap 2 or 3 times, most the time though I “ban” character swapping because I won’t it to feel like all the progress I’ve done in a world was as that character

Example your not really “surviving” as Wes if you occasionally swap out for Wolfgang. Etc..

But how I play my game is my own personal preferences, & I’m merely stating the things in the game which I rarely ever use.

And on that note- I barely use a shovel as well, simply because instead of bringing all the resources back to my base, I prefer to have to return to that resources natural spawning location to gather.

There are of course a few exceptions to this, such as pinecones, or unnatural portal loot but you get the general concept.

Wait i just realised when i reread this post. there is still a limit for how many saves you can have on xbox?

also does anyone remember this wacky thing? image.png.f52a655485b3af0730890f5322a93e77.png

Pretty niche, but bee mines are very good for Crab King, Slasher 342 did a few crab kills with them. Not sure what Klei was thinking before the addition of the king, Hound defense?

and belt o’ hunger essentially became pointless after the Wolfgang rework

you can use it in his gym to reduce the hunger drain but thee gym become pointless after the re-rework because of how good are the dumbbells

I see a few people talking about the cat-tail whip. I made it once because I thought extra range would be nice to circumvent needing to kite since xbox is too laggy for that anyways, and it crashed the game when I attacked something with it. Haven't used it since. Both temperature amulets seem pointless, there are far easier ways to heat up or cool down, very niche stuff like fire darts, when you could get more uses out of a fire staff, which I don't really use either lol. And number 1 biggest letdown...

Lazy explorer. it's just walking cane but it can break if you use the B button (Which is used for almost everything so accidentally doing it is inevitable) and the teleport itself is completely useless. With the range of it on xbox (like wortox) there's absolutely zero point. The animation (Accounting for lag) takes so long you could walk farther in the time it takes to teleport, and using it to dodge requires standing still for 3 seconds before the actual warp.

Low key lazy explorer shouldnt break at 0, and be refuelable. Having to grind resources over and over again just to be able to use the gear you reached through progression is annoying. The regular walking cane never breaks but its upgraded version does for some reason?
