Do you think that DST deserves the labor of love award?

I don't mean for them to be able to Speedrun a megabase while also doing a no hit all bosses.

It just that it doesn't really seem that devs really understand how the "experience" actually is. 

I can tell you how I feel about the it but someone will probably tell you something different it's far easier to just be there yourself sometimes.

Klei's balancing alot of the time just seems like they wrote an idea and placed it in the game without having the foresight of past gameplay experience to consider how it'll work in game and effect other aspects of gameplay.

Many things klei puts in is often used for other reasons then their intended purpose look at all the automated farms people create or the "exploits" they come up with because of the way certain items are designed and work with other mechanics.

If the devs had more experience with the game or were "better" at it or whatever they'd probably be able to envision the way players would look at the the content they add and what they'd want to use it for and how they would want to break lt/abuse it.

Still there's a lot of perspectives they could assume it would be looked at from megabasers and speedrunners, to newbies, casuals and pros, people that play alone or actually together.

My favorite updates are always the QoL updates they always seem to just make the gameplay loop a much more enjoyable with the less desirable aspects being better or just removed outright.

Pirate monkey raids is literally this

the place where you have to fight them is so ridiculously small that you have no option other than to tank, they assumed cannons would satisfy the players enough to take care of the raids but they did not, specially on beta where cannons were awful to use

and the curse mechanic works the same way too, its not fun at all to be honest

I mean putting aside differences in design and the direction the devs have for the game, klei still is very dedicated to this game and the community, so sure they deserve it, why not?

That said, any community voted award just boils down to a popularity contest so i sadly dont think Klei will win

Actually.. Genshin impact is beating out Sonic Frontiers in votes because the developers are offering free content if people vote- sure it’s Rigging the system and highly wrong…

I have nothing to add here, but I want to say that I like dst and I think they deserve this, so I will be simple.

No. Not even nominated, I don't see how you can say there's love involved with so much skinner boxing going on? Surely love accounts for the well being of players too.

But even beyond all that, how are you expected to beat Terraria.

I’ve been playing the game for quite some time and I’M still not use to the new crafting tab. It’s more inconvenient then previous version because instead of automatically moving me into the category of items I can craft while standing at specific crafting station like it use to- I now have to play “Guess which Tab it’s In”

Its not fun and that QOL update was probably my least favorite thing Klei has done to the game yet. But aside from that- I’ve enjoyed things like PalmTrees and actual beach turfs being added to the game.

Personally I hope Klei someday wins this award, they seem to be determined to get it.. and since JoeW has already teased more substantial updates after this current roadmap.. I’m gonna hope whatever 2023’s roadmap features will be big enough that if they don’t win this award this year, they get it next!

I personally just use the search bar. I actually really like the new crafting menu it's more sorted or at least feels more sorted than before. The move to the corresponding category as far as i can tell only works on the moon orb thing which is really annoying because if i stand near it it will just force open a different page i do not need. but there is definitively room for improvements. i hope klei gets the award they have done a lot for us i think they deserve it.

The devs listen to community feedback to make the game more enjoyable and less annoying, either by making new mechanic or fixing existing ones.

It can be slow and sometimes it backfires but they at least take the effort into trying to make an enjoyable product on top of adding new original content, which is what I believe the Labor of Love stands for.
