An Idea For Wilson Refresh. Magnifying glass and make it newbie friendly.

edit: after reading comments, I realized that this suggested feature is not a perk. It can actually be added to any characters to aid new comers’ experience. It doesn’t change game play, it just eases the learning curve by making some basic knowledge more accessible.

My goal isn't adding new features for veterans. It doesn't change the gameplay.

The goal is to ease the learning curve.

Magnifying glass to enable the ability to inspect all of the entities nearby and give the most basic hints about what the player can possibly do or what can the player want next. Currently, we can just use mouse to inspect items that may give text hints without visual help. But I think the game is going to the direction that it wants to be more friendly to new players.

The mock up demo is like this:

1. Right click on the magnifying glass

2. game compares inventory items and entities nearby

3. game give hints.

The magnifying glass is essentially just a convenience tool for learning the game. And it's not giving away too much information. It reduces the amount of the time spent on going through the massive crafting menu.

The basic idea is just that. The level of hints can be tuned. For example, more hints such as which tabs are those craftables in. Some details may be removed. The searching radius can also be tuned.

What you think?

(My idea was inspired after watching this video. What you think?)

Why do people want Wilson to be boring as heck?? I mean if you watch just the starting animation of DST Charlie zaps the holy crap out of him with strange shadow powers.. this is Canon to the DST Story Line- so if Wilson becomes just the generic highly boring noob friendly beginner character, Klei will have failed me and my expectations for his refresh.. even if it’s not by much- this should have some clear effect on Wilson somehow.

He already is boring as heck.

Only thing "unique" about Wilson is his beard. (Then again Webber shares the same mechanic - granted it's silk instead beard hair but still)

Other than that he feels like a default template of a character.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't that Charlie taking his shadow powers away? Like, the throne gave him powers just like Maxwell, but she stole them. The stage play even shows that she has a motive to do that.

@Mike23Ua, @ALCRD

you can add other perks on to of it. As you can see, my suggestion isn’t really a perk. It’s more like a generic add-on or learning mode that can be turned on on any characters. I gave it to Wilson just because I did. But I don’t want it to be a perk.

wilson can still have his character-specific perk besides this add-on, such as beards.
