Crab King Bee Mine strategy

Recommended Posts

A known strategy for killing Crab King is using Bees since he can't directly attack mobs, though from I could find on the internet it usually is done by dropping Killer Bess or Bees on Spring right as Crab King awakens or crashing a side of the Boat with Bee Mines onto Crab King. I found a better strategy with the use of Rudders.

What you'll need is at least 10 Bee Mines, 2 Rudders, 1 Boat, 1 Grass Raft kit, 9 Purple Gems and 1 Driftwood Oar/Battle Paddle/Malbatross Bill.

Remove the Sea Stacks around Crab King, put the Boat right next to him making sure it's touching him, place the Bee Mines at the borders of the Boat (do this at day because Skitter Squids can spawn and activate the Bee Mines), place the 2 Rudders, socket the gems onto Crab King, right as he awakes turn the Rudders on, the Bee MInes will activate one by one, wait for his geiser spell to be casted, place the Grass Raft and jump in it, start rowing in circles around Crab King avoiding his geiser spells and claws

The number of Bee Mines can be increased to make the battle faster, while you can use a normal Boat to go around instead of a Grass Raft, the latter is smaller so it helps avoiding the claws, a normal Oar is not recommended as it is too slow.

In this video I attempted the strategy replacing one gem with Pearl's Pearl and using 18 Bee Mines, I also forgot that I already built a second Rudder and added a third but only two are necessary.

that was amazing! Just a question, could this be doable with a secondary sailed boat to move around, or would that be too clunky/dangerous?

Sailing instead of rowing? Definitely, it is in fact how I prefer doing it. This gives you the option to just stand around or sail with lowered anchor while bees deal the damage, and you would only need to raise anchor when the geyser spawns beneath you and adjust the direction with the steering wheel afterwards. A lot easier to do with two people though.
