The new loading screen is not very good

Does having the game installed on an SSD make a difference? It should load faster, no?

Cause for me it still takes a while just to transfer shards.

I've got SSD recently and yes, it does makes a difference but I still can detect it, mostly playin uncompromised but sometimes in the default game as well.

Noticed this problem too. I died yesterday from full hp as wolf when going to the caves, there we're 2 terrorbeaks camping the entrance and by the time I load in I was dead. Rolled back and went down with a thule crown equipped, they took 30% off it before I loaded in.

Yes, exactly this issue I wanted to underline as well, leaps & bounds more prevalent after the supposed "fixing world loading times" via "Monke Island" updates. Recently 2 times I loaded dead when getting out of cave (and not wearing armor) from bats, because for around 10-15s after character is de facto placed in world, I as player am still seeing the loading screen. In past at most 1-2 bats bit (or other aggressive mobs hit) before I got character control post-loading, but now it "reached new highs" of "trolliness": often you load already dead (if not wearing armor, a must I now learned the hard&sad way). The most evident case for this is in pubs, when you see people announced re-entering world, only to observe them sitting there, unresponsive, for some seconds, even when attacked by hostile mobs to the point of being yeeted. Definitely this issue should be a priority in fixing, either in form of temporary immunity (akin Spawn Griefer Protection one) or actually solving the loading-times core problem.

Even with more powerful pc but weaker internet connection.. well maybe not die, but I always get few bites from bastlisks while loading. I agree we need some protection when changing shards, maybe even more than spawn protection.

Unavoidable deaths caused by things you couldn't even see are part of the uncompromising experience.

just don't exit your world ever and have armour equiped all the time you enter or exit caves

Do you guys think it would be appropriate to tag a dev here to draw attention to this? It seems like an easy fixable problem (spawn-protection for cave transitions would be sufficient) that should definitely be in a QoL update.

I was planning on replying to this topic sooner but the forums were down ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Everyone is talking about a spawn protection when going out of or into the caves, but this doesn't sound like a permanent solution to me, especially if this is also a thing for solo worlds like I suspect. I did notice I was skipping half a segment or even a full one when using sinkholes (although I'm not entirely sure whether this is something new or was always the case, I'm going to assume it's the former just by relying on my own experience).

Either way, I would rather have a proper fix to this issue instead of getting a temporary one that delays addressing the actual problem for a couple months. For me, the issue is not game breaking or such, but I started to avoid going in and out of caves for a "faster" travel or for getting lightbulbs whenever possible. Even though it's not huge, the time lost going between the shards does stack in the end, and I just don't want to adapt my gameplay according to inconveniences that are not related to the gameplay itself.

We are adding a form of loading protection in the next update which you should be able to test out in the beta. This doesn't mean that we aren't trying to improve the loading times also, but that solution isn't as simple to implement and will take more time.

Consider applying it to domesticated beefaloes as well (it feels very unfortunate to lose your beefalo due to technical hiccups). Anyways, this is great! Thanks!
