Question about the lunar cycle

Recommended Posts

In my experience a full moon cycle is 20 days, so that the 1st day and the 21st day are new moons, while full moon would be on the 11th, 31st, etc...
After placing all altars and until the Celestial Champion is defeated, it is a "full moon" every night. And from the moment CC dies, it becomes "night" for the rest of the day.

But after this the normal 1st-21st moon cycle is broken and it shifts.
Can someone please shed some light and enlighten me about this topic?
When should I expect full and new moons after defeating CC?
What does the every day "full moon" phase is?
I would love to know!

Wickerbottom's book does that too, despite our pleads.

This is both good and bad. In a world with competent and mindful wickerbottoms the weird lunar cycle that creates the end of the celestial event, can be restored to the usual full moon day by a Wickerbottom.

I'd argue it'd still be much better to make her not be able to change it and not be able to make a full moon on the night of a new moon it's a much more multiplayer friendly approach.

At least they did not give Wickerbottom the ability to change season by flipping a page.... yet.

As much as I agree with the suggestion above that it would be preferable if the cycle would not change, even when fighting the boss, it gives some purpose to the Moon Dial structure and makes it useful.

and makes it less useful..

That's actually a really nice point! I love the idea.
Thank you for answers guys, I appreciate it a lot!

How?

removing the ability to change the moon cycle removes the ability to have new moons every 10 days instead of 20 which is very useful for players that atrium hearts without cheese, bad luck finding the pieces, forgetting about doing the fight, etc

It would also mean a Wickerbottom could no longer indefinitely delay a new moon for everyone else.

so let the trolls win

Honestly it depends on how you view it as I doubt there are very many "mindful" Wickerbottoms this change would free Wickerbottom to use the full moon book as much as they want without having to be considerate of other players aside from Woodie anyway griefers exist but that doesn't mean everyone who does something that disadvantages other players is a griefer or that people are doing so intentionally.
