Why is Pierogi so highly praised?

Because Klei hasn’t added a harder difficulty mode where eating food or sleeping in a tent can’t heal the player? (No wormwood doesn’t count)

Periogi good food value, good health recovery, extremely long spoil time..

Why wouldn’t it be praised?

I have the same feeling honestly, I hate how much its the 'meta food'

I prefer either Surf n Turf, which only needs monster meat and fish morsels for 60 HP, 33 sanity
Or Beefy Greens which only needs Leafy Meat and Stone fruit for 40 HP and 75 Hunger

and surf in turf is so much easier to make now with the new fish net that you can just set at the ocean by your base and get plenty of fish, or use wicker to spawn a ton of fish to get it quickly.

And beefy greens you can get from farms that any later game base has

Personally I prefer Creamy Potato Puree - recipe takes 2 potatos + garlic + onion, which can be grown as a combo on 2x2 farm plot and are very easy to mass produce in any season. Yes, it regains sanity, but there's sense of keeping it high after getting an enlightenment crown, and if you need nightmare fuel - you can go to the ruins or hop through wormholes several times.

Sometimes I also use honey nuggets, stuffed pepper poppers, spicy chili or even just jerky, because I always have a ton of meat from spiders, pig farm and beefalos.

because its easy of course, really easy, kill some spiders, grab some kelp/stone fruiit, heals so easy they are only ever outclassed by farm crops potato/tomato farming is dummy broken for health btw giant crops give me like bundles of the stuff after a few harvests and is zero effort.

High heals, works with any meat and any veggie, no matter how low the value, and has a long spoil time.
