I think it very much depends on the end number of slots, 6 or 7 probably not imho. 8 or 9 yeah id like weak then strong later on. 100 stats is pretty low, itd definitely incentivize using stat boosts, but i want enough slots to actually put some stats in without feeling dumb

Completely agree with this, like if you cut all his stats so much he should probably be able to have 9 circuit slots, i wouldn't really trade not being able to eat meaty stew and more annoying sanity and health management for 1 slot, probably for 2 but i would for sure do it for 3.

I think it only fits if he could upgrade to more circuit slots, he should start with 6 but be able to get at least 9 if he has 100 in all stats, plus it would make it more fair if it is hard to obtain. I am not really sure how he should be able to get more circuits, an option is boss kills and scanning their drops but it should only work if the boss was just killed.

I don't care whether he has 100, 150, or 200 starting stats. If the stat upgrade circuits are going to be competitive they need to do more than just buff stats.

I agree, even with 100 stats i wouldn't use stat circuits as they are not worth using compared to others.

Maybe stat circuits shouldn't have been separate, stats could've been added to all the circuits that have other abilities, obviously lower numbers but that's that, he doesn't need 600 hp anyway as that is probably the biggest new player trap if i've ever seen one.

Call me crazy but I say reduce base stats to 50.. and allow them to be increased gradually over time (robot literally has a freaking fuse it can plug in for passive health recovery)

I’m not sure how many of you guys play games like Tainted Grail or Apex Legends: But in Apex Legends there’s a character (Octane) who passively regenerates Health when not being shot at so he never actually needs to use med kits unless it’s an emergency.

Now that WX has something similar to this (although it’s supposedly slow as hell..) Klei should experiment with letting you start off weak & grow in power over-time (like a crank up flashlight) the passive health Regen Ability should be easier to obtain then needing to kill Bee Queen for it.. but you guys get the idea-

Start out low, work your way up.

be competitive

I hope they change the meta soon, it’ll totally affect my one to two person experience drastically, because i always read other peoples opinions on “whats competitive” and definitely dont just play whoever i want based on fun factors

So why are you on the forums then? Why are you discussing the rework at all? If you for some strange reason think "number is big but I don't do anything differently at all" is fun wouldn't you be having more fun staring at numbers instead of wasting your time seeing other people's worthless opinions?

They're not good and they're not fun. You even admit this yourself earlier in the thread, not sure why you're just being contrarian for no reason here.

“WhY aRe YoU oN TuH FoRuMs”

because i am interested in the character, the rework, and the possibilities that exists with it. None of that whatsoever has anything to do with the “meta” or whatever you mean by being competitive. Its not a competitive game. Not all characters are created equal and thats good.

wurt is a **** character by the standard of efficiency and speedruns. Shes a lot of fun for very long playthroughs where you can slowly terraform the world and build an army to solve most od your problems for you.

wigfrid is by all accounts just a weaker wolfgang even post rework. But most people prefer her over wolfgang. But shes not “CoMPeTiTivE”. But you can make armor and weapons easily. I mean, okay weapons and armor, you can always just go kill a tentacle for its spike and massacre a village and smash their houses for meat and pigskin and use a hambat for bigger fights. Okay so shes just not as good as wolfgang, even post nerf/rework whatever you wanna call it. But you dont have to deal with the bs that comes from being wolfgang.

the different characters are not supposed to be exactly 1 to 1 as good as eachother. Thats bad balancing. You want characters that provide different abilities without standing too far above the rest. I dont like wanda, but she is inarguably the strongest dont starve character so far. But having all the power in the world gets boring. You know who doesnt get boring as fast? Wormwood. Not because of the speed, I rarely remember to bloom, and even if i did id probably just be running circles around my partner to annoy them. Hes interesting because he has unique threats posed early and midgame that force me to seek different means of healing. Not necessarily harder to get, but it’s different. Or webber, where building an army allows me to pick and choose spiders to fit what im trying to achieve, or just throw more at the problem till it works. Or woody, where i can just goose out on people to scout things, or just scout things as a moose charging in ready to mess stuff up.

my point is that good and fun are two separate things. Having reduced stats but the ability to upgrade them as i choose could very well be fun. Itd give a downside that may force me to do something i otherwise wouldnt (socket in pure stat buffs) while still having the option to just be fast, or immune to winter, or turn myself into the ice maker 3000 my mom always knew i could be. (Honey! Drop the anchor, im splashing water on myself for some icecream!) im not against having more circuits that aren’t just upgrades to basic stats. But the inclusion and the potential necessity of the stat upgrades is good. It forces you to actually make a choice. I dont want to feel dumb including health into my build, but i also dont want to get 2 shot because i wandered a little too close to something dangerous while i had a low durability helmet on.

The hardy circuit should give some damage reduction or something, and the sanity regen from the super processing circuit should be increased (maybe it would even change the threshold at which shadow creatures start spawning). As for the gastroexpansion circuit, the cost needs to be reduced to just a slurper pelt instead of bearger fur.

And I heard its hunger reduction doesn't stack. I think 45% less hunger consumption in exchange for all of your slots wouldn't be overpowered or anything when you compare it to alternatives like a 50% speed increase.

Stats are just stats i dont really think they fix the problem.

Its just kinda wierd to me that the only cost of using his circuits is seen when you switch them out, not only does it discourage switching i think its kind of boring for the circuits to be so passive? Like why does the charge meter not go up or down depending on usage.

For example the speed boost right now you plug it in and thats it. Why wasnt it treated more like an ability where you click the circuit and its enabled and now you have your speed boost but it slowly drains your charge meter as you use it. Click it again an the speed boost is disabled and you can focus on gaining your charge back.

If there was another limiter on his abilities they could be buffed to be much stronger in their effects.

I do think WX should get 100 stats, only if charge bar gets bumped to 7 slots, and a new one slot circuit that adds +50 hunger and scales down as it stacks.

My ideal WX rework changes would be:(Highly opinionated lol)

· 7 Charge slots for more combinations (could be obtained in mid-late game)

· A new one slot +50 hunger circuit

· Doubled charge regen

· Chargeable electric doodads for charge on the go

· Small Dronemaster circuit buff

· Electrification circuit dealing more damage to wet targets

· Chorus Box circuit changed to 2 prongs instead of 3

· Optoelectronic circuit taking 5 slots like old Illumination circuit

· 100 base stats

· You take damage when a charge is lost to water, then taking double damage when out of charges.

· A rusting mechanic that depletes charge, the worse it gets, the more charge depleted. Water would speed up the rusting process.
