Dst 7 deadly sin theory

Recommended Posts

The constant is the main hub that connected to the other 7 realmes, the forge is warith, the gorge is gluttony, and if the DLC was it own realmes, RoG is pride because it what people think DST is not the basic one with no autumn or spring and also it the most popular and iconic of the 3 DLC, SW is sloth because you can just chill and it's also relaxing, HAM is greed because of the new trading system.

I suppose that leaves A New Reign as Lust with Carlie taking over with her lust for power and making some charming changes while Return of Them is Envy with both Wagstaff and Charlie envious of forgotten knowledge, wanting to take it for themselves, leading to conflict.

I have my own headcanon, the lust dimension is a bacoon fashion show to see who the most beautiful creature of them all, while Envy is the "moon" because Alter is envious of Charlie and THEM because he use to be the old god we can see the survivors saying about how Gestalt want to interact with the survivors but can't and how to moon mutated the constant because of jealousy to make an impact and to be known by all, and gods are often envious of mortals being in most stories.

Weeeellll...this could kinda go with the second part of Dante's Divine Comedy, "Purgatorio", in which he goes through realms that are based off of the seven deadly sins (that's literally what happens.  And in the third chapter he goes into space.
Yes really.).

...AND, Wendy even flat-out calls the Constant "purgatory" more than once, and that was already a favourite fan theory anyway.

So yeah, it's a _little_ odd of a theory, but it's not THAT off....?

I'm not sure about the other choices, but Gorge as Gluttony and Forge as Wrath absolutely works.

This is starting to reach more than MatPat's Undertale theories.

But Sans is literally Ness tho?

But that the opposite of gorge nobody was hungry only the gnaw and the land is full of food so I don't think that fit.

Probabaly because fighting and eating are central mechanics, I heard there was gonna be a sanity based one but don't take that as a fact was just something I heard.

When I first saw thread title, I though about those things:

- picking all flowers within screen distance, especially in starter biomes;

- making meatballs with large meat and non-ice filler; alternative: making meatballs with potatoes and corn;

- making wet goop instead of voltgoat jelly because player used regular crock pot instead of portable one;

- letting green gem to break due to earthquake; alternative: letting snurtle to convert green gem into slime;

- using morning star as torch, especially during day;

- hammering every single pig house and not building pig farm (optionally wasting all pig skin in ruins rush);

- leaving (double) ewecus on the map without warning anyone.

and 8th special one: letting mobs to eat Deerclops eyeball/Guardian horn, as well as down feathers to burn.

Sorry for offtopic, but I couldn't resist.

Humble bragging literature student here. The issue I see with this theory is that you can connect a bunch of deadly sins to pretty much EVERY story, no matter if it was intended or not. War, greed or wrath are attributes to many, many villains and conflicts without being related explicitly to Dante's Comedia or medival depictions of hell. As for Wendy calling the Constant purgatory, I would see this more as her expressing her personal view of it, remember also that Wendy likes to make a lot of literature comparisons (Shakespeare, Poe, Ovid, ...)

Tbh now that I think about it, the horsemen fit more. War and Famine as Forge and Gorge, you know?

In this case, the main Constant as Death would be fitting, but where is Pestilence since Klei removed disease? ((Except it's Hamlet's hayfever))

Basically "it was all a dream" theories.

The moon's effects on the land feels like a disease. So maybe the moon?

Events like gorge weren't succeseful, so we may never know.

Also, your brain can't stop functioning in the constant, you can't fully die

Snip

I'm not saying that the constant a purgatory or hell, but it has similarities, and if this were true then the ending of DST must be bright, also the constant as the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse make no sense the apocalypse already happend.

My theory just point out the similarities and how that would help us predict the story future.

But from a different perspective, isn't exactly that the... pinnacle of the workings of Death? That even once you died, you will never be safe from death and will die again and again?

No, we already have That Kind of fanart and fanfic for that.  : P

Incidentally, I'm not normally the type of person who is all immediately "Ooh, let's reference Dante, look how serious I am with the Christian allegories, oooh"--but I DID just barely see a long, detailed video all about the "Purgatorio" just like, what, last week?  AND Wendy does CALL the Constant "purgatory".  AND there's literally areas on Purgatory Mountain (in Dante's book) that correspond to the seperate sins.  AND Paoling said "realms" that correspond to said sins and...you can see how my brain got there.  Heh.

Spoiler

Actually there's also a lot of (unintended) _humor_ in that as well, since it seems every single time Dante's character meets somebody from his country--IN FREAKING HELL OR PURGATORY--he looks at his list of dialogue options and chooses:  C)  "What's going on in Florence?"

...wat.  XD

(yeah I know that does actually make some sense _to him_, in context, at the time, but that doesn't stop it from being funny.  "Hey there, person who's buried up to their nose in stinking lava-hot mud and having their lower body constantly eaten by bats!  Who won in the latest election?"

Frankly I, like most non-actual-literature-student types, didn't even know there WERE the other two parts to The Divine Comedy, since (understandably) everybody mostly only talk about the scary, dramatic Circles of Hell part--unTIL I saw OverlySarcasticProductions' videos on it, which are hilarious and everyone should see them (unless you have already).

In "Paradiso", he takes "Heaven" literally, as in THE Heavens.

As in he goes to space.

And talks to spirits of people on different _planets_.

SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE!
