Please remove those self-use things from the workshop

Recommended Posts

Self-use, which is the behavior of downloading other people's mods and changing the author name and content without authorization and then re-uploading it, I'm absolutely opposed to this. Every modder loves his works, which is like his children. Wouldn't you be offended if someone stole and tampered with your works without your consent? Would you like to see others put your works on their names and show them off? Imagine one day you opened the workshop and see all over the screen filled with your works self-used by others. None of them signed with your name, and subscriptions are even higher than your original works. Everyone praises who stole your works, and no one knows it is you created these mods. How would you feel? Self-use is not only immoral, but also seriously damaging to the enthusiasm of modders. Even if there is no copyright involved, should modders' works be treated with a minimum of respect? Klei should ban such self-use through practical management measures. And also, shame on those who steal the fruits of other people's Labour.

Klei cannot do anything about those mods. The original author has to fill out a form and work with STEAM to get them removed. There is a way to do it , google it if you want, I've never done that before. Valve is the one responsible for the workshop, not game developers.

Klei just cannot help you in this regard, so stop asking.

So I don't have to take off the shelf and rectify the illegal mods, and you can't do anything if I continue to charge, right?

It will cost much if KLEI take actions to deal with these cheaters, so KLEI is be completely indifferent about self-use mods.

It is obvious that these self-use mod infringe upon author's rights. They should be censured whether KLEI deal with them or not.It matters principle. If some moders stop updating their works, they should ask for agreement first and then modify instead of copying directly.

Some even earn money by providing paid items at server with others mods like Fengxue ,named as "风雪" in Chinese. How about it???

There is another way that KLEI can provide interface to allow moders to import LUA byte codes at their mod directly. Will it be OK? I do  not think it is a trouble.

Klei cannot do anything about mods copying other mods.

They can do something about mods that include payment. Remove them, that is.

Do whatever you want with your mods, if they get removed you win because that's what you wanted, if they don't you win because you can feel smug about it.

But stop asking people on the forum the same question over and over and then ignore the answer.

Everyone has the answer, the "keli official" I need, everything else is just a discussion to increase the heat

Mods that are self-use, can be marked private. If there is an obvious self-use mod, report it as such and point out in the report that our mod guidelines specific say this and whoever gets the report should be able to deal with it appropriately.

Most moderation on the workshop is handled by Valve.

Who can I report to? Can you remove these self-use mods? I'm glad to see that most self-use mods of uncompromise mode have been deleted. Does that mean you have the ability to solve the problem?

How about these copied or self-use(in Chinese: 自用) mods?

You have to report them yourself. The uncompromising mode situation was a special case because of several factors. Klei cannot help you directly, you have to report each of them yourself

As far as I know, is the team of myth reporting less? Why should the uncompromising mode be a special case and the myth blame the world for being unfair?

special case

1. It's been one account spamming exact same mod multiple times. That breaks multiple sets of rules.

2. The account was pretending to be someone else. That's a very big violation of rules.

3. Multiple people (including me) reported the account.

You can get what you want by reporting the self use mods. Encourage other modders to report plagiarism and reuploads as well.

i love how one person just said "no" as if that's a good reply to the current situation (the "no" is a reply right? im still new to the forums)

I should offer some clarification here, because I believe there is some confusion due to terminology.

Copyright - is an issue that needs to be resolved through Valve's DMCA process.

"Self Use" or mods that are meant to be shared only with friends should be marked as such and not visible on the workshop by other players. This is specifically mentioned in the guidelines. "Friends Only" mods are unmoderated.

Mods that are "Self Use" or lack adequate description should be reported and will be removed from the workshop or flagged as Friends Only. As they do not follow guidelines.

Your terms clearly state: "Mods that make use of other people's work without credited permission!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!", thank you very much for your contribution to the community environment, I am sure you will I will do something, my purpose is achieved

Self-use isn't Klei's issue, report it to STEAM instead, they can probably do something about it

Many people have tried, haven't they, but to no avail
