Yay, I successfully pulled the "'Paranoia' player" gambit!  Actually that wasn't my _original_ intent; I went into this thinking I knew more about the game than I did...and then quickly found out that there is a LOT more in this game that I haven't interacted with, than I knew there was.  So I was like:  "SMARTASS MODE:  ACTIVATED".  Lol.  I'm kind of a wuss when it comes to combat and the caves, and tend to play alone most of the time, so...yeah, I haven't done much with ruins, archives or purely optional bosses.

"Paranoia" is a paper-and-dice RPG (it's a snarky dark-future sci-fi comedy that I like to explain as:  "Monty Python's '1984'"--and in fact, the original version of it came out IN actual 1984) that aims to be as informal as possible--to the point where one of the pieces of advice _in the GM's rulebook_ is that if somebody does something that makes no sense or is physically impossible in that situation--but CLEVER enough, and makes you laugh--they should get away with it.  Most of the time.  Don't wanna let those pesky players get too uppity!  Hence, why my turning 400 points into 680 is "The 'Paranoia' player gambit".  Heh.

And yes, I've actually done this in-game, too--there was the time somebody went to shoot at my character and my character was "drugged" at the time, which I interpreted as "stereotypical hippie stoner", and so I said that when they shot at me, I just "happened" to get really fascinated by the ground right then and fell over on my face to look at it up-close. "Wow, maaaaan....graassss...!"  The GM cracked up so he allowed it, and I did not, in fact, get shot.  XD  (Also these characters have lived underground in a totally artificial environment their entire lives, so they probably WOULD find weird organic wavy green stuff growing out of the floor, pretty fascinating.)

Dude!  DUDE!  That's pretty close to the story of my Best Death Ever anecdote!  Minus the really bad ping because of playing from 2 continents away; it was in fact my own server.  Anyway:  Running around at night, while it was raining, torches kept going out, went straight through a spider's web before I saw it, lots MORE spiders, did I mention it was a hound night?, straight past _three_ sleeping Mama Goose nests, I got hit by lightning FOUR TIMES IN ONE NIGHT, like good god, heaven, what did I DO?--and THEN the frogs started falling.

Actual cause of death?

Freezing.  : P

When the just _survival_, hunter-gatherer, exploring part of the game can get THAT crazy...maybe you can forgive me a little for not having what all the optional bosses drop memorized. Heh.

Also in summer, I have seen things literally catch on fire _while being rained on_, so that's fun.

(what was it raining--OIL?!  No, that was not lightning--I was there, I saw it spontaneously combust.)

A5. Metheus and Cyclum puzzles. Cyclum puzzle being where after a New Reign cinematic dropped Maxwell had drop into the same world as Wilson after Wilson had been sapped of his potential throne's power by none other than the shadow monster Charlie. We learn first word as cyclum since the puzzle's name is cyclum, other being metheus where we gotta do ancient symbol puzzle with another partner online to get it done. We get special skins that are lore related to the names that those items came from. Metheus used to be the Ancient civilization's king of sorts and Cyclum being the queen. Civilization was thriving and growing as their technological and magical advancements were becoming more prominent as it's shown in the murals. With their discovery of new source of power that they could potentially harvest to power their city they used nightmarefuel and created Ancient gateway to unlock the true potential of the gemstones they've found. Thus their overuse of the Ancient Gateway's power was their downfall. The nightmarefuel they've used from food to magic had consumed them and the power they tapped from lashed back at them, consuming the city and cursing their citizens losing their insides to the fuel to discard their old remains and become the nightmares that walk dimensional and mental planes themselves. 

The Cyclum and Metheus puzzles introduced us to some history of the ruins and the new seater of the Nightmare Throne being Charlie taken control of the Constant and the shadows revolving it and it's constantly changing lands. Further more that more secrets were to be revealed and come to face survivors in a fight of life or death.

OMG a freaking TERM PAPER?!  A), I kinda want to read that, and B), high-key jealous that your school was cool enough to allow for term papers about videogames.  I've never been to any school that had _fun_ subjects, like the history of rock 'n' roll, videogames, or the evolution of science fiction.  Mine were all plain boring ordinary school-ish classes.

(Well that's not ENTIRELY true; I did once write a paper that used D&D as an example.  But it wasn't the whole paper, and I had to kinda streeeeetch to allow the actual subject I was supposed to be writing about, to merge with tabletop role-playing games.  Heh...)

Well, I might have used the wrong word for it, but I'm 6 years out of school now and studying media studies, so that might explain it  It was about anthropocentrism and human-animal-relations in survival games, using DST as an example for an uncommon perspective on that. You might not have too much of a blast reading it though, as it is in German...
