Maybe Catcoons shouldn't eat Wanda watches?

Recommended Posts

Bug or feature? Indeed this makes The Constant harder and more annoying, but well...

Some of my watches just randomly vanished and i couldn't find them at all. After one of them vanished right after I made it and I saw a Catcoon randomly walking around my base I connected the dots. Then i confirmed it giving it one of my watches. It had eaten not only some Ageless Watches but also a Backtrek Watch (which costs a Walrus Tusk). Is this intended? Why is this the only "important" item in the game it eats though?

I think it would be better if it didn't steal watches or make it so it steals other "important" items too so it's unfair to everyone and not just Wanda lol.

Sorry for the low quality video taken from my phone instead of screen recording software, but here's the recording of it taking my watch:

It’s a intended feature & they only steal them if you put them on the ground (why you would ever do that is beyond me but sure okay…)

I remember wanting them to drop kick Wanda in the face and have them steal it out her inventory… but Klei felt that would be too punishing I guess. *shrugs*

but yes- they DO steal them and it’s intended, that’s mentioned somewhere in the patch notes but I can’t find it At the moment.

catcoons pick everything up by default unless a special tag is put on the item

its far more likely klei forgot about it than deliberately omitting the tag

how do you think catcoons respawn? obviously they use stolen second hand watches. I say let them be before you destroy the eco system.

Lol that makes a lot more sense now! I think I'll donate more watches to them, I need that meat coming!

Well, i remember the first one was forgotten on the ground for a while when we're reorganizing the chests (hammered a few of them and changed their contents etc). As for ny Backtrek watch, it didn't even stay on the floor for too long, my inventory was full and it was stolen during the time i was putting stuff away on chests and coming back lol.

I liked the drop kick idea tho

That's interesting, maybe that was what actually happened

-Pocket Watches and the parts will now be stolen by Catcoons.

It's an intentional change, https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/133445-our-newest-survivor-has-arrived-meet-wanda/

but uh, it stinks lol.

I’m still in the mindset that if they want watches stollen by Catcoons they should hit her like Pegomastix from Ark and run off with the loot, they should of course be killable to retrieve the clock.. but ultimately it’s just to give Wanda a fun & unique downside.

Catcoons actually DO already pounce Wortox.. so for Wanda to be the only HUMAN Character they did that to would’ve been adorable cute, hilarious the first few times, and sad when I needed to murder them for my shiny watches back.

I guess maybe someday when they make a harder difficulty this can be a unique downside for Wanda, Otherwise I can’t think of many situations where I’ll be leaving clocks laying on the ground near them.

I also hoped i could kill it to get my watch back, but it sadly didn't drop it. It seems this kind of mechanic already occurs with Wes's Pile o' Balloons, so it would be nice if watches were at least retrievable as well. It is indeed an interesting downside to have.

What are the ways you can destroy Wanda's watches? They don't fall out of her pockets so you'll never die near a catcoon and lose them, so this might just be an intentional way that you can get rid of watches you don't want any more.
