WX-78 rework idea, the automation automaton

Recommended Posts

I just had a wild idea. Wx-78 is a robot, a machine, an automaton, a metal being that has a dislike for humans and a like for clockwork, right?

What if he could go whole hog on that and provide robots that allow some level of automation, like Winona's catapults? Think about it, he wouldn't trust some weak meatsack to do what needs done, so he builds robots to do it for him.

Such robots include:

  • auto collector: picks up loose items to be stored.
  • auto planter: plants seeds, both of the tree kind and the food kind.
  • auto waterer: auto waters crops
  • auto hauler, moves items from one storage to another, can sort items.

these could be stationary structures, or clockwork creatures that walk around and do things. I know there are way more possibilities, but I'm trying to keep it simple and avoid ones that do actual work like chopping trees or mining, we have other characters for that. Of course, if Winona ever gets a second rework, then she could have these instead.

Basically what I want is a character that can deal with all the little tedious things like collecting and moving items, and planting a lot of things, also watering I guess. Wx-78 is already a late game character, so it would be cool to focus him on that late game aspect.

Wx is anything but a late game character. Also I would like if these nice QoL robots weren't just exclusive to 1 character.

Imagine that those little robots are as arrogant as WX itself, building smaller robots and letting them do the job that WX gave them :P

Personally, I think this concept might be more appropriate for Maxwell, who is noble enough to refuse to do the dirty physical work and hand it over to his puppets, which fits well with his current gameplay.

WX excels at all game stages:

Early: easier ruins, passing grotto for manipluator/telestaffs from farming gnomes before and after ruins, getting enough gears for your comfort level vs FW and BQ, construction amulets for telelocators, with magi and thule club/explorer and overcharge you can easily explore surface and be immune to freezing as well as kite most bosses.

Easy shadow pieces and enables funny dfly strat Wolfgang used to be able to pull off but didnt need to commit fully (video attached).

Late: Spoilage perk, perma overcharge and the option to live off gears (with suicides to get 1/3 to 1/2 gears back at full upgrade)

Overcharge methods: Telestaffs autumn/winter and moosling pens spring/summer

Tip: Shadow Chester is your friend with magi

that was fixed

i just saw this, i wasn't referring to the perma glitch that keep them after spring. Just walls near a quad moose goose set piece or a gathering that u setup once and use every season and charge yourself at the end for summer.

You kill the moose gooses, hammer the eggs and kite the mooslings inside a walled area and close it.

I had an idea, it might be a bad one but doesn't matter. It might be explained badly too.

What if wx could build more wx? As in you can create more clones of yourself. Here's how it would work.

WX has a new meter, it replaces the hunger meter with a energy meter. This energy meter can introduce with it:

Wx can now do a zap when he is about to get attacked by charlie, this would consume 25 energy and also do 50 electrical damage in a aoe.

Wx can craft faster, gather faster and pet faster when above 50 energy. Wx also has a base drain of 1x for energy, but when below 15 energy they would have a drain of only 0.2x. They would craft, gather and pet 25% slower.

Other from that, energy won't be whole lot different. Now onto the real deal, clones.

Wx can place a new structure, themselves, here's how it would work.

WX clones would cost 5 gears, 3 cut stone, 5 nightmare fuel and 3 electrical doodads. Wx clones will not suffer from energy drain and sanity drain when not active, but can be damaged by rain or mobs. But don't worry rain will only reduce wx health to 25 and won't affect them much once it reaches that threshold.

This will work similar to Wanda back trek watches. In the inventory a new slot will show up, when you click on this slot you will be transported to the new WX, but be warned that all WX 78 have their own inventories and their own stats. Your previous wx will be deactivated and it's stats will freeze. If anyone wants to expand on this idea be my guest cause I don't have any.

Some small details. Wx should be lootable when deactivated, any other character can loot them.

Wx should say something when initiating a zap and should say something when their energy is too low, please give your suggestion.

Their base stats would be 100 sanity, 100 health and 100 energy.
