[Updated - I arrived on the planet] Rocket platform on the niobium asteroid

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Any ideas how to do that? How do I keep my dupe alive?

I could send some refined metal in there, destroy trabi..thing, unpack supply, build platform, destroy modules quick enough so he can enter again in the rocket.

Second Idea. I have a space suit in the rocket, I make him equip it before I launch the trab..thing and build the stuff, would be he equipped with that suit? That would be enough time.

Third idea, launch some oxylite use it temporaly on a non-space background.

I have already 4 colonies, they are stable, I would like getting the exotic materials and then make a 1 dupe on all the harsh asteroids. I am assuming temporal tear is near one of those.

I'm confused. Doesn't the Superconductive Asteroid have an abyssalite barrier? i think you could simply send two rockets, equipped with everything a dupe needs to survive, launch the trailblazer modules (two), deconstruct them, build the rocket platform, land the rocket and work your way through the magma.

Yes if you force equip the suit they keep it on when deployed via trailblazer, or even if you blow up the rocket.

I... may have recently colonized the nearest asteroid by blowing up the rocket.

To be clear i don't recommend that in this case.

Oh no my clueless dupes will find dead bodies in space suits and lots of debris..

I found this to be unproblematic. Got refined metal, water and building materials there in advance by Interplanetary Launcher, then sent two dupes, one using the lander and building the platform. Had to send more oxygen, food and lots of construction material, but could already have had the first dupes stay forever (living in the rocket) based on that and a supply stream from the launcher.

I sent one dupe in trailblazer module to dig down in abyssalite and build rocket platform. Rocket platform turned out to be submerged in lava, but it doesn't hurt the rocket. Oxygen in suit is started to running out, when the rocket was landed (I did only minimal digging),  so it is a good idea to send two dupes :)

Ok any tips on this one? I just arrived here, one more rochet is comming.

I came here for all the niobium and I am not gonna leave

Edit: Ok magma levels are going down, I am assuming is solidifying in igneus at the bottom

Note that you only ever need 5 kg of niobium, if you already have an infinite supply of tungsten and energy.

Really? Only 5kg? why?

I have tamed the asteroid with tungsted volcano is just that I abandoned it temporarely

Because you can refine 5kg of Niobium + 95kg of Tungsten into Thermium, and Thermium into Niobium.

Also, just use steel mechanized airlocks to enter the magma.

they removed that feature from the metal refinery

You may be missing Thermium. That item only turns up after you have/had some Thermium.

You can do the conversion both with the rock crusher (at 50% effectiveness) and the metal refinery (at 100% effectiveness) in the DLC. As 5kg Niobium go in and 50kg or 100kg Niobium come out, you only need 5kg Niobium to make as much as you need from Tungsten.

as Gurgel said there is no problem to colonize if you send materials to the asteroid by the interplanetary launcher in advance.

Then you can send a trailblazer and build the rocket platform.

and later a small fully automated outpost which will send the niobium to any asteroid you wish.

Here it is the "almost there" setup which accumulate niobium at -50C (or whatever temperature you like) for a quick grab-and-deliver using CO2 rocket with a bin.

Later I can install the launcher to complete the automation (I just stopped playing and did not complete it).

there is no need any more for a long stay but at the construction stage the rocket habitat module was used to accommodate two dupes to do digging and construction. Food and oxygen (plus construction materials and a bit of water for steam, I used the press) were supplied from another asteroid by the launcher.

And yes, you do not need to build anything just to come and dig 5 kg of niobium and never come back if you like this scenario.

Do you know any way to make a lossless niobium tamer? It has limited utility, I know, but just for the fun of It. I managed once by splitting the metal flow using airflow tiles, but on this colony I have the volcano tucked away in the bottom right corner. There is no space, and I don't want to use pitcher/emptiers or magma pumps.:wilsondisapproving:

I do not understand what is about. I have never had any problem neither with Niobium or Wolfram volcanoes. Both metals have very high temperature conductivity and are easy to deal with (easy to cool down). I have the robo-miner but it did not work a second (I had it just in case) but I always had metals coming as debris rather than making tiles. So no losses.

Actually I have currently like 100t of Niobium waiting to be taken from the asteroid but I already have like 100K t of thermium.

The steam pressure was below 20 atm at Niobium (and 100 atm at Wolfram). The temperature went from 1800C to 200C at volcano spot through the time with just two active steam turbines working. The 3rd one keep the setup cooled down and reduce the niobium output temperature from around 140C to -50C.
