I was glad to be over with meteors. Are they still a thing in the DLC ?

Is it because I choose a big terra start?

Meteors haven't made an appearance in the DLC, other than reactor meltdowns and gassy mooteors.

The classic-style Terra asteroid does spawn with regolith and shove voles, but does not have any meteors to my knowledge.

what a relief !

on the other hand a vole farm is then useless, as an autominer will do the job as well and no meteor will add new regolith (.....yet ^^)

(not even for meat, once the vole eat all the regolith, they will starve..)

I think there is 2 factions - One faction is happy to have NO reproducing Regolith raining down from the sky, the other faction would LOVE to have "RegolithRain", "Meteors"...whatever. If Klei can cater for both factions, that would be great. I miss Regolith/Meteors/BasicMetals/AlienTraders...whatever coming down in the starter world :congratulatory: I want a more lively world

Ideally, Meteor Showers would be something that is predominantly variable from one planetoid to the other.  The starter world, for example, probably shouldn't have any on most start types.  Or if it does, they should be rare.  Probably don't want to put them on the Molten Asteroid that has the Niobium Volcano, either, since that would probably make colonizing it impossible.  But perhaps other planetoids should have them.

If they're going to satisfy both camps - those who want meteors and those who don't - perhaps the way to do it is to make them a world trait (if world traits are still going to be a thing in Spaced Out).

I expect they will. But I think nobody is at the moment too clear on how to do it best and it is not really urgent. Renewable sand can be gotten from filtering brine and saltwater or taming volcanoes.
