What's the lore explanation of spawning structures?

Pig houses for example. You murder them again and again and again and again and a fully grown pig comes outta nowhere in 4 days.

Note that Wurt is proof that merms dont' go from child to adult in a day.

I figure the reason why the same mobs keep showing up even after you killed them is because the constant recycles them and wipes their memory to think they are a new/separate being. Easier than making new beings and a great way to torment the survivors with the same annoying freaks that gave them grief. Deerclops wrecked your base? Well have another go. Killed Krampus? Well he's not happy about it. 

But hey, at least that means you get Chester and Glommer back.
