Enlightened Crown Should Glow Too

The Enlightened Crown Shards glow on the ground, even if there are no spores inside of them, and glow the color of the spore inside if there is. For some reason the crown doesn't glow at all on the ground, even if there are spores inside of it. Is this intentional? Also it kind of bugs me that the Enlightened Crown doesn't change color in your inventory like the shards do.

That's probably a technical limitation.

There doesn't seem to be a way to dynamically recolor inventory images. The Crown Shards just have 4 different icons depending on what's in them. And they can afford to have separate icons cause there's only 4 possibilities: empty, red, blue and green.

The Enlightened Crown, on the other hand, has 5 slots, which means 1024 possible colors. So, yeah...

Isn't the crown powered by the players sanity? When on low sanity it powers off. Why the shards light up though.... I don't know.

Edit: it would be broken if you could circumvent the sanity requirement by dropping the crown and getting infinite light that way. The shards probably have very low dim light that is unusable in battle.  

the crown needs a "power" or something to activate it (in this case, an almost full sanity character) to glow. and when it's powered up, all the shards have a "connection" between them. that's why they can move synced and glow when the crown itself is activated. but when u deconstruct it, they lose their connection with the crown itself and each other. you may ask, "why do they lose their ability to move but do not lose ability to glow?" while they move in a harmony with each other, they lose their thing when the deconstructing happens and separates them. but they do not seem like they need each other to actually glow. so yeah, this is kinda my logic. and that might be why the crown does not glow on the ground.

I would like it if the crown did have a faint glow on the ground/below 85% sanity. It'd make sense since the shards themselves have a faint glow regardless of proximity to anything with a brain.

 Right now it's not a consistent method of fending off Charlie since if your sanity goes down for any reason (like attacking things too many times) you have to switch to another light source. The crown is pretty much a Tam o' Shanter upgrade that makes me use less lightbulbs. I still have to carry around a miner hat.

Exactly, the crown is definitely not a stable source of light in current status.
