Which ported dlc character would you want

Recommended Posts

I don't really care who it would be, but I just want it to be a lore-heavy character. If we're gonna go the route of recycling another character back into DST, I'd rather it be Wagstaff since there is so much potential for lore with him (just so much potential).

Yeah, but even in singleplayer the dodge has a cooldown, so she can't just spam it. If nothing else, she'd have to get the timing right. (And like I said, Wortox players gearing up for a boss fight can have more soul hops than they'll ever need if they fill their pockets with live bees; right-click murder a full stack and you've got an instant soul refill.)

Cooldown means nothing since most bosses / raid bosses attack really slowly anyways.

Also, while Wortox could use souls to dodge, he also has to use them to heal since healing foods work half as well on him. Sure, you could just catch a stack of bees, but then you have to kill spiders for silk, make a bug net, catch bees while outrunning killer bees and other aggressive bees, and then finally feed the bees you have so they don't starve to death. That's a lot more effort than clicking a button, and so naturally the Wortox dodge is a lot more balanced than the Wheeler dodge.

I don't think there is a good way to nerf the Wheeler dodge itself. Giving it an insane cooldown (10 seconds for example) would remove the fun of it and also ruin an aspect of a character. Making the invincibility frames extremely low will also ruin the dodge abilities use and make normal kiting more consistent. Nerfing other aspects of wheeler could make her a bit too one sided imo which could sometimes be a good thing but in Wheelers case it could make her only use killing bosses.

I'm eh on the concept of craftable ammo, because being able to shoot random garbage is half the fun. Might as well just port over the Blunderbuss if we're gonna have a gun that needs crafted ammo.

Well the crafted ammo would be optional, it would pack more of a punch but you have to go out of your way to make it. You'd still be able to load up random items into the horn. But I understand what you mean, the gun was meant to fire junk, so having ammo for it would kind of defeat the purpose. Plus if Klei was going to just add the blunderbuss than yeah, I'd say just ditch the ammo concept.

While you're correct about it being inconvenient for Wortox to stockpile several stacks of live animals for souls (although it doesn't need to be bees specifically - butterflies still need a bug net but at least they don't attack you), I don't think a Wortox player who was serious about using soul dodging to solo bosses would realistically consider bringing twice as many souls so that they could both heal and dodge with them. It's a lot easier to get a stack of honey poultices. For that matter, half effectiveness on healing food is better than zero effectiveness - he's not Wormwood - so you could just make twice as many pierogies as normal if you have the supplies for it. And you might, if your base is advanced enough to have a bunnyman farm and a varg farm. Also, the more attacks you dodge the less damage you need to heal in the first place, so the healing items are less necessary.

Plus, Wheeler still loses armor durability (just not HP) when she dodges a blow that would have hit her, so you can still run out of armor during a boss fight. At which point beefing one single dodge will basically ruin everything, since she has 100 max health. How much trust do you have in your timing? What about your ping, since lag isn't a factor in singleplayer?

Like, I take your point about Wheeler's dodge being free and infinite with no startup costs, but I think you're overselling Wheeler and underselling Wortox.

Out of all the possible characters that could be ported to dst, who would you want the most. I would personally want Wilba. I find her the most interesting

for me none cos none of them is particularly interesting and useful for dst

I would like Wagstaff or Wilba.

The thing is Wagstaff would decimate Woodie and Maxwell as wood gatherers since his machine really does his job well, Wilba can be refreshed for DST, since she has one of the strongest potentials.

Walani. I’d probably also like Wilba, but I’m on console so I haven’t actually played her yet. I’d also like to see some of the unimplemented characters, if not as unique characters then as skins instead, such as a Waverly skin for Wendy or a Winnie skin for Wigfrid.
