This is Correct- Except for the fact that while playing as Maxwell and Examining a Redbird his Exact Quote on it is:

“They come from the Firelands”

a direct hint that SOMEWHERE out there in the Constant is a Lava-like Fire Biome.. where they’re common birds in that Area. We the players... just have yet to uncover it.

Probably not the best example to use for this. It's implied many times that birds can somehow travel between realms, and Maxwell has no idea where they actually come from.
Crow: "I don't know how they got here."
Snowbird (DS): "I don't recognize that one."
Snowbird (DST): "You're new."
Canary: "How do these things keep getting into my world?",
Pigeon: "How are birds getting in here?"
This is also supported by Woodie having an "irrational" hatred for birds, and how crows can be seen in both the constant and the real world.
These "firelands", assuming Maxwell didn't make them up on the spot, don't necessarily have to be anywhere in the constant.

Some birds indeed can migrate long distances.

Why long distances and that mentioned general perceivable scale and type of climate Constant seems to have - let's take a look at 2 map examples:

1) map-model_1.png.e21e16eb0ee00684adec48434999f2f0.png

     (current type of map)

2) map-model_2.png.b201aa348e28755494864041a1a04371.png

(a more fair distances-wise supposition in taking account possible interactions - or rather lack of said interactions between what a Fireland biome would imply and rest of Ocean and main landmass)

Which of the 2 do you find more appropriate given what we fairly know and can deduce about Constant?

And this is even without taking into account Canis' or Sunset's hypotheses which both have a high probability of being true.

you guys are looking at EVERYTHING from a PC perspective.. consoles CAN NEVER be that big... we have limitations, and NO We don’t care at all that a Fireisland being right beside a normal island makes no logical sense, because on a Xbox, They Either have to cram what they can WHERE they can regardless of if it makes sense or not, or in many cases.. exclude it from the consoles altogether.

however I was thinking alternate island biomes would work similar to CAVES where like- you travel so far out at sea and then your met with a Loading screen before being placed into a completely different looking environment in the same way Main Land and Caves work.

Fair enough, I for one have no idea about consoles as I don't fancy them at all.

Then I suppose whatever goes your way... goes your way.

One thing though: mentioned loading screen thingy akin to Forest and Cave shards... means a 3rd server running for multiplayer. Again don't know how powerful consoles are, like X-Box, but few-and-far-between PCs can host efficiently 3 servers at a time, more so as it seems .LUA isn't very good for the task at hand.

The reason the Caves & Ruins were merged into a single shard was to prevent needing a third.

Look, dude my game already crashes when I get on a boat, I'm an Xbox player with terrible connection and I don't think I could reasonably play the game, also no offence but

O K    B O O M E R

I think my favorite thing about these updates so far is that they've been Don't Starve DLC-esque.

They take ideas that are from Shipwrecked or Hamlet, and they re-execute them in an entirely different way. (And in some cases they just port them)
Look at Warly, he's practically three times the man he was in Shipwrecked! While Wormwood is... pretty much the same.

That's what makes the new features feel fresh. If they were just all straight ported from their native DLC as is, they would feel... like land we've already treaded on. They wouldn't feel like anything new at all. They would feel boring.

The new vegetables and recipes, for example. They didn't just port every single vegetable from Gorge and call it a day. Okay, well... they ported everything but turnips, but that's besides the point... They included not only Gorge vegetables, but asparagus from Hamlet, and even an all new original vegetable: Peppers! And they could've just ported every Hamlet recipe, and ALL of the Shipwrecked recipes. But they didn't! Instead, they ported SOME Hamlet recipes, SOME Shipwrecked recipes, brought back all of Warly's old exclusive recipes (bar Sweet Potato Souffle, for lack of Sweet Potatoes in the game. They also tweaked some of his recipes), and added brand new recipes into the game! They even gave Warly nearly THREE TIMES the amount of exclusive recipes!

Okay, okay. Last one. Boats! It could have been. So. Simple. Porting the Shipwrecked boats and calling it a day. But they didn't! They coded a WHOLE NEW THING! And they were buggy as hell! I died so many times on boat bridges because my character fell in the water mid-jump! But I didn't care. Because it was new. It was fresh. It was fun. What would we have gotten with the old boats?

See what I mean? If they ported everything from Shipwrecked, not only would it feel "out of place" as some said, it just wouldn't be fresh! Klei should leave straight DLC ports to the modders for now. I wouldn't be against seeing some of these things in the future, but keep in mind:

These updates are the first major updates we've gotten in YEARS. The game's community was on its way to dying before this!

They could port DLC some other day, but these updates are the revival of DST and its community. People have left, because they wanted NEW content. Klei wasn't making NEW content. And now they are, and good God, they're being sure to blow us away with it. Saying they should simply port Shipwrecked or Hamlet is ignoring the very reason why we're here right now in the first place!

Sorry for the long post, I just really needed to type this out. It's something I've thought of and admired for a while, but I've never been able to put it into words.

Who ever voted for new lunar skin sets deserve a special place in hell if you ask me.

That's pretty extreme for someone who enjoys a different kind of meaningless videogame content than you do.

It's all in good fun, don't take these types of comments seriously :D

'Fun' would be more like: "These kinds of people deserve to have Pig King never spawn in their world generation >>>:)".

The comment was in poor taste.

Yeah you're right, I just wanted this guy to stop getting upset over forum posts. I saw him on another topic complaining about a meme, my intention wasn't to be insensitive at all. Just wanted to keep the spirits up! :D

Btw, why do you feel this way? The last lore-related skin set we got was the Rose one. I don't think it's a priority but the potential here is vast.

Just would like to clarify, my comment was definitely a joke. Please don't take it seriously.

To answer this question...

While my comment was definitely intended to be hyperbole, it does actually confuse me how people would prefer to get cosmetics rather than actual game content.

Additionally, I personally have a love/hate relationship with skins. On the one hand, the skins are beautiful. They fit thematically with the game (this was a huge concern for me when they were first announced, because I was worried it would end up like Portal 2 or Teamfortress 2). I love the Wardrobe mechanic, being able to personalise your outfits really adds character to your avatar and I find myself always changing outfits depending on the season. Additionally, (I'm assuming) skins are profitable for Klei, which is great, because that means that they can keep investing in DST and keep working on new updates.

On the other hand, sometimes I feel like skins destroy the opportunity to have really cool content. My biggest example is the Icebox Skin which is the Safe from The Gorge. I would kill to have a Safe item, a special a chest that only I can access. A place I could store precious items and not have to hold them in my inventory because I'm too scared that if I stick it in a chest it's just gonna disappear the next day. Instead, we got a skin...To make our fridge look like a safe...for some reason people want that.

Actually, I have an even bigger example. Critters. CRITTERS ARE THE BIGGEST WASTE OF POTENTIAL IN THE WHOLE OF DST. Imagine if during Spring, animals had like breeding cycles and had babies that followed them. So hounds had little Varglings and Catcoons had KittyKits. You could adopt them the same way you adopt Smallbirds and raise them to be your own. But no, instead we get these purely cosmetic items that are totally pointless.

Agreed! I find the cosmetic items very pointless. Sadly, I have a pet skin so I feel like I have to use it. They often mess with my targeting and they serve no purpose. I can't even tell them to stay at base, they follow you no matter what. I feel the same with this recent beta update. The fish weighing serves no purpose and the new variety of fish are nice and all but it just feels so empty. Hopefully we can do something with these fish (trade them with a crab king for specific loot?) soon, because I see no reason to go out of my way to sail.

Both forum posts and memes can be criticized. Being on a message board isn't an excuse for someone to be rude.

Outside of the Squid and the new fish did the Hook, Line and Inker update bring any new mobs/biomes to the game?

like with Lunar Island Shattered Spiders and Saladmanders

The Squid/Gnarwail are the only new 'mob mobs'. No new biomes.
