Chthonicone Posted September 11, 2019 Share Posted September 11, 2019 My take on this is that BBQ and Cooked fish are +3 because of the normal difficulty in getting a large amount of ingredients, it usually is mid game when you can make it consistently, about the same time you might make other +3 foods. That being said, meat is -1 grisly, and fish fillets are +3 good. I have no explanation for this discrepancy other than the fact that it might be a nod to sushi, and fish are the harder farm to produce lots from. That being said, in a game, not everything has to be perfectly balanced either, especially not in a single player game. It's ok to have one item be sub par compared to another so long as it's not completely useless. Ethanol is easy to manufacture and it doesn't freeze until well below the ideal temp for the plant. Its a very stable and cheap way to get to 5 quality food. It is probably an approximation of what CannedSmeef said. You don't want to stop at BBQ. Combining it with fish gets you surf and turf which is pretty amazing. The food tiers got upgraded pretty well when they added the new stuff. You have to raise the fish, and then 2 more cooking steps to go from +3 to +4. BBQ should be +1 vs +3 and then I would agree that the surf/turf is good upgrade. FantasticMoose Posted September 12, 2019 Share Posted September 12, 2019 Fish are a passive source of food though, that takes 0 dupe time up to the point where the pacu dies and is turned to food. 1 sweeper, 2 tiles of conveyor belt, a converyor loader onto a chute and you'll get "free" dead fish, and "free" egg shells.
