goboking
Slime is needed for mushrooms. While it's not finite, because it off-gasses and because ranching pufts is a hassle, I'd like to a see a non-ranching source of the stuff. I propose slime slowly grow on buildings and surfaces submerged in water in dark rooms/chambers/caves. The slime could eventually entomb buildings if left to grow long enough, and it could be avoided by strategically placing lights inside the room. I don't know if rust is supposed to be an exhaustible resource or not. If not, then iron exposed to certain chemicals could cause rust, or we could get a new critter that does so. Given that dreckos don't seem to be suited for the rust biome (they quickly die because the biome is too cold for them), then perhaps such a new critter could replace the dreckos in this biome. Or maybe a new subspecies of hatch could eat refined iron and poop out rust?
N00bieMeap
Slime: sound nice for some asteroid like Verdant (they're said to have strong wildlife)
natanstarke
Slime geyser/ rust geyser. But i preffer the critter ideas for the rust. For slime just buff pufts or make the geyser.
badgamer123
I think we could make dropping meat/P.dirt in P.water will slowly turn it into slime(need germ in the water)
Coolthulhu
One of the biggest problems here is that pufts are just plain bad. They're so bad that they "don't count" as existing. They fly (bad), eat gas (bad outside ranch), eats gas that is hard to mass produce without massive offgassing installation (very bad), drop off-gassing items all over the place (terrible outside ranch, also makes ranching harder), have wonky morph mechanics (utterly terrible), "process" only 30kg gas/cycle to 15kg slime/cycle (mega hyper ultra worthless). There is nothing redeeming about them, they're just too terrible to keep. A slimy critter should be something that eats a lot and lives over water. Say, a barnacle that only climbs on walls and ceilings (not floor) and uses its long tongue to lift and eat salt/mafic rock/other useless crap that you always end up with excess of, then drops slime making sure to dump it into water if it can. A morph could produce rust (say, base does salt->slime, morph does mafic->rust).
