Klei generally avoids controversial themes in their games like the plague. This dates clear back to things like the original magic tab icon, the original ban of a certain 3 digits in a row here on the forums (Which was lifted due to complaints), Long Pig, and of course, the recent Warbucks removal after arguably not a whole lot of complaints (Although, one could make the case they were scratching their heads to find a way to remove him anyway, and that just offered a convenient, albeit shallow getaway in terms of business reasons)

These changes don't necessarily have a negative impact on the game. Don't Starve has never been one to shy away too much from macabre topics, but just for the sake of controversy, they decided to remove Long Pig, which even when it was added wasn't immediately fully polished (Seen from the drying rack) because they seemed to be testing the waters initially anyway. There was backlash, people thought it was immoral for a game that isn't that dark, and it was removed, having virtually no impact on the game's development whatsoever past that point. This is the first time in a long time I've even seen Long Pig mentioned, which should really be a testament to how unnecessary it is in the first place, and how little impact it would have gameplay-wise if it was added back.

Let's also look at it story-wise. Do you think any of the current cast, (pardon maybe WX-78) would willingly cannibalize on their fellow survivors? Thinking back on it, I do remember it breaking my immersion a bit back in the day when it was an actual feature.

Pigs eat other pigs in real life.

Spiders eat other spiders in real life.

Humans does NOT eat other humans in real life. Never did. Never will be.

The thought of a person. A human being, eating another person. A person with a life, a family, goals, is repulsing. It's disgusting, sickening. And definetly, NOT human.

I'm not sure why you want this in the game so bad. Because it's gross. It's ****** gross.

Double standards, got it.

Oh, you want to play that game.

Okay, videogames and ethics.

One last point, shouldn't mobs eating eachother provoke these people as much? Even our friendly pigmen cannibalize eachother, need I remind you.

Read between the lines with this, I just looked it up because I don't feel like writing right now.

Mixing videogames with real life is the real mistake. You aren't supposed to "relate" with pixels.

Very fair. I understand implications reflect on companies wheter I feel it should or not and it is a very poor business move. I will not argue further.

In general I don't mind gruesome or "controversial" mechanics as long as they make sense and add something into the game. And it being too "morbid" is not really an issue considering Wendy's whole theme is morbid AND controversial (depression, working with the occult, blood sacrifices, ...). I also agree that soul-eating is rather morbid, although I think it doesn't apply to players (a dead player doesn't drop souls).

Now... this makes sense? Yeah, it is "don't starve" after all. What would it add? From what I am reading and searching: not much, if at all. It is an item only dropped when a "human" player dies, so it is not something you want to happen unless PvP (where players kill each other in a Hunger Games like event), and looking at the original values in the wiki, even the more common raw monster meat or morsel was more valuable and versatile (so it would be useless even in PvP, the only game mode where it could be remotely useful). It seems to be dark humor simply for the sake of it.

I would rather prefer Klei put their work into something far more useful or interesting. This has no potential whatsoever.

Human cannibalism is also a thing. Plenty of tribes practiced it, and plenty still do.

monster and leafy are multi purpose.

white meat could be crockable. Monster Meat substitute.

*cooking with warly*

Warly: Hey Wormwood, do you have any m e a t?

Wormwood: *gives human meat*

Warly: *looks at wormwood in disgust, yet cooks the meat*

Literally everyone: *dies of food poisoning and bad proteins from the meat.*

It sucks and you shouldn't make human be cookable.

otherwise some silly kid would try cooking meatballs for his mama

so you are saying that the characters make the game more likeable?

so you'd be sad if all characters just lost all there personality?

sounds like you relate to them eh?

These aren't mutually inclusive, no.

When I play videogames, I stop worrying about both my own little self and the world. You should try it, it's great :)

surely the thread is at an end anytime now.

Not sure what that second line meant, was it just some meaningless insult towards them?

A simple solution to stop this threads activity would be for you to stop posting, like you said you would.

And some tribes drink cow piss and breastfeed puppies. I guess that's a normal human feature aswell?

"Turn off your brain" is possibly the worst suggestion you could give to literally anyone. Ever.

You've contradicted yourself multible times and your arguments are poor. Just go to bed, already.

ok... still no valid reason to add it

You've already given your input. I understand.

I feel compelled to respond to any new reply. It's respectful and basic decency.

but you haven't

all you say is you want this without any evidence to back up why this should even be considered

your arguments have been pure conjecture without substance or reason

and have tripped over your own words repeatedly

(just realized my one thousandth post is arguing about a long dead subject woohoo)

I've re-read all of my replies and they fit none of your call outs. I've given all the necessary arguments mostly on the opening post and a few on the following pages.

I've gotten some of you very upset without any insult whatsoever. I apologize.

I'm not avoiding anything. I'm still positive that it's a neat scrapped idea and food type that adds some layer of humor / despair.

Infact I've used the "long pig" workshop mod for a while now.

Read again. If that's not enough, read a third time, and a fourth.

Read untill you see it. I got all day.

then why are you asking for something you already have?
