b_legend
Everyone is complaining about hounds hounding their boat by hounding their kiting space and then hounding their structures by causing fires. But there is an obvious solution that Klei can use to stop these hounin' hounds from hounding our boats. (okay I'll stop now) Klei should just make it so after swimming, hounds are 'wet', so they are slower and they put out fires. Here is a poorly edited picture of a wet fire hound: Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/106786-solution-to-hounds/ Share on other sites
. . .
Fire hounds shouldn't be able to swim because Fire-types are very effective against Water-types. -Variant
I'm not wanting to be rude, but the latest posts about Hounds "in general" have been kind of sad. What's stopping you from waiting to check for a hound wave before you spend 2-5 minutes reaching an island? The ocean doesn't have any content yet, aside from boating to the island, I don't see how you can be in such a pickle to warrant wanting to change how they work. Hounds already get wet after submerging, or are supposed to (It may be bugged, I haven't checked it.) and how would a slower hound function any differently on a boat? Well, I saw tons of threads with people complaining about hounds. It's (probably) clear there is going to be more ocean content in the Return of Them, so it's obvious nerfing these is going to be necessary, especially if you can't reach an island when the warning comes or if you are merely searching for the island. Since I saw people complaining about crowding hounds causing them to tank, I thought they would be easier to kite if they moved slower or came slower. The fire hounds on your boat is an obvious issue, so having them put out fires is an obvious solution. Nerfing the hounds might not be necessary yet, but I think they could be better in the future. When the hounds are in the water, they are wet. However, outside of the water (like they hopped onto your boat), they are dry. Hounds were not wet in the water before, which was fixed after I reported that as a bug. Daxterr
If we had bigger boats then we could kite the hounds better. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/106786-solution-to-hounds/#findComment-1201602 Share on other sites
Mencken
Has anyone tried using blow darts? Can you hit them while they are still at sea? Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/106786-solution-to-hounds/#findComment-1201868 Share on other sites

That's a good suggestion; in theory I don't see why it wouldn't work, but in practice they swim so fast that it'd be difficult for most players to actually hit them before they close the distance.
