Disinfecting surfaces from germs is useless ?

Recommended Posts

When duplicants carry slime through the entire base, it's all contaminated with microbes all the way through. Especially the stairs. Also duplicants are constantly trying to clean the storage of slime and toilets.

I'm tired of duplicants spending a lot of time on this. I've disabled disinfection everywhere. Every building, every cell of the stairs, every warehouse. And you know what ? No problem at all ! If on the base of enough pure oxygen, the microbes die very quickly themselves, and their concentration in the air is so small that no one loses a percent of health.

And it freed the duplicants a huge amount of time. Previously, after a few pieces of slime were carried up the stairs, it began to be cleaned all over. Every cell. All the time ! Now, nobody cleans anything. The microbes themselves die.

What do you say to that ?

Does disinfect even matter then? As far as I can tell disinfect only works on tiles and buildings. Tiles and buildings can't sublimate into oxygen so they can never vaporize the germs to breathe. The only harmful place for germs is the air or in slime and those can't be disinfected.

It does on everything a dupe operates (including ladders and beds) as that transfers germs to the dupes.

Germs cant survive in clean oxygen. A O²-flooded base is save in any way. Exterior disinfection is useless to the max. Next to sealing my base, i set disinfection to 50.000 and they never do something, but in a real emergency (huge pile of polluted water and slime breaks the ceiling or such)

not really.  the first level of lowered immunity this works fine too.  for hardest, you really should not be caring around slime through your base regardless.

They stay in O2 for fair long period of time I think, like at least 5 cycles? During which. If there is PO2 from PDirt, or Pwater’s PO2, it might multiply, and if there is a somewhat sick dupes, he might get even more sick and eventually getting slimelung. This is really really rare, but I let dupe dig slimes in open air and this happened to me. But otherwise, germs seem weak

Disinfecting is less for slimelung and more for food poisoning. The only time surface slimelung matters is during sublimation which only really happens with polluted water, which is usually immune since food poisoning is pretty good at killing slimelung. Surface contamination for food poisoning is more problematic though, it gets everywhere. And the more places it gets, the harder it becomes to keep it off your food. And food with food poisoning on it is about as useful as having your dupes eat dirt, just skip the farms altogether.
