Its not that much time you loose crafting things... Otherwise during most of the game you will not waste that much hunger on your everyday crafting, which is what, on average, a dark sword and a helmet every 2 days? 15 extra hunger every 2 days? Lets say 25 adding a campfire every night... Its not that bad people! When you play solo you craft a lot of things often. Raiding bosses takes lots of crafting or when you play for the long run shaping your world with megabases. It doesnt drag you down much if you play together, but still all play styles should be considered. WilsonGuy_
That's a splendid idea. Maybe it should be in Suggestions and Feedback sub-forum instead...? ...no, it shouldn't. Threads that go there are sentenced to death. I want to save that idea from it. BushmannGG1392
This might be a bit of an Oxygen Not Included thing, but what about some type of solar panel or rechargeable battery? However my point is that her hunger during heavy crafting is not an endless straight line into an insane food needing rampage, or clearing down an entire fridge full of stacks of food, as was suggested when comparing that she could be mathematically +30 times hungrier than Wolfgang. Realistically her increased hunger stops when you meet about the 40 hunger level, at which point you craft slowly. So for the periods of massive crafting, considering that she is at 150 hunger to start with, she will consume it all instantly until reaching 40, then all you need to do is to keep her hunger around that level to avoid wasting food if you want to keep power crafting items. The massive crafting usually ends at some point, at which her con will be inactive again. If you feel that you are going to be basebuilding a megabase, or require a daily and constantly work into some project, then yeah, she is probably not the best choice of character, as any other would do the same either faster, or consuming less food. The problem I guess could be adressed is that she has no way to overcome this, so she is definitely not a builder character anymore. Its quite ironic that the handywoman is the less crafty of them all. VexTheHex
Probably should stay permanent on. The catapults have already been proven to be boss slayers and the spot lights can be convenient for nigh harvesting or organizing chests. I think being able to turn them off basically removes any sort of thought process or planning to be had with them. Edit - Didn't realize I already replied here. Whoops. So I'll add that people saying it's just tedious or requires effort/mining to keep it up and running... umm you do realize you're playing a very grinding and tedious game? Lots of the game play is harvesting stuff. Though I know half the player base mods out any sort of challenge or chore to them, so maybe that's where people forget that's like half the game play. CaptainChaotica
Eh, solar and rechargeable batteries might be kinda high-tech for Don't Starve. It's kinda pushing it to have anything that resembles electricity at all, really. (The fridge is an ICEBOX--in theory, it's the kind that keeps things cold because it has an actual big block of ice in it, which you'd have a guy come by and replace every now and then. My grandma's house literally used to have one of those. The fling-o...you got me there. Magic? I mean, I get how things _fuel_ it, but without even a water supply, how is it making iceballs? : P) And I still think not being able to turn off a machine is just STUPID. Not even thinking about game design or balance here, just regular common sense and logic. Why would you waste your resources on NOTHING when you don't have to? Who does that? Why would you WANT to? Do you actually _want_ to run out of resources and be stuck with nothing? What's the fun in that? There's challenge, and then there's screwing yourself over for no reason. Also what about _other_ people who might play on your server? And, again, nitre has other uses. So do gems. Still give us a freaking off-switch. This is a machine. Any machine not made by complete mental Saharas in the real world has an off switch (or if not that, a "turn this thing off automatically if there's no input in x amount of time" feature). It's just a natural part that comes with every device that uses power. I would say it's like having a house with walls but no roof, but that's like...every structure in DST, really... ...Notorious Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/103632-winona-rework-turn-onoff-button/page/2/#findComment-1163867 Share on other sites

Interesting thing to note though: the Flingo uses electrical parts. Theoretically, there's a totally different 'generator' inside of it, one based on burning. CaptainChaotica
I should also mention here that I normally play alone, so having the ability to turn a machine off when you're not there would make more sense in that case, as when a single player leaves the base, the base is empty (of player characters). For people playing it properly multiplayer, however, the need to turn things off completely would be less frequent. Especially if you have someone playing the "housewife" role and base-keeping all the time while others go out and hunt/gather/whatever...or if you've got one of those useless slug types who just lays around all day eating out of the fridge. : P ...Notorious Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/103632-winona-rework-turn-onoff-button/page/2/#findComment-1163942 Share on other sites
4 Da LOLs
they might be altering the characters to make them all only work in teams Winos downsides are negated by a friend to craft for you , you need a friend to succeed and we know all characters are going through the reworks so i think that they will make DST even more single-player hostile as a person who can't get any friends to coordinate DST and hates random servers this is horrible i don't want another game like overwatch to if you don't work as a team you basically can't do a thing i always felt like this game had about the same teamwork as in TF2 to which you can have a team but you aren't restricted to it to succeed and some may say just play DS but what about the new content, characters, skins, events, more mods, and graphical improvements Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/103632-winona-rework-turn-onoff-button/page/2/#findComment-1163944 Share on other sites
