Distributing 4 full-ish O2 supply pipes into 9 consumer pipes, somewhat optimally?

Recommended Posts

Or really, any number of input pipes into any number of output pipes.

This is the distributor I'm using right now:

Other than that it prioritizes the upper supply and right-hand consumer pipes, I'm reasonably happy with it, but I wonder what others might be using, or if they bother with central distribution at all.

I like it, I wonder how consumers pipe tiles is filled.

could you please explain what you do with all the bridges?

here is what I do, I have small base, mine prioritizes right-hand consumer pipes, less important pipe go up.

Well, I don't have 40 dupes to take care of... so my approach would be something like this although it'd require the system to back up:

Otherwise it is rather 4 split to 7 with one getting double (and just now I suppose the most outer bridges and the most inner might should have been connected, ofc one can also make it more compact).

Last time colony I had by the by had 8 Exo Suit Docks standing right next to the cots and hooked up to one pipeline which simply split evenly (one into two, each of the one of the two again split into two and lastly each one of the four split up into two, makes 8).

Step 1:

Step 2, add a bunch of bridges:

Step 3, just put bridges everywhere:

Top pipe flows down the 1st pipe if there's room, then the 2nd, 3rd, etc. Middle pipe backfills 1st, then 2nd, etc. 3rd does the same.

Everything in my base is supplied from a single central electrolyzer setup (which, on reflection, has too many electrolyzers and not nearly enough oxygen pumps to be operating at full capacity), and I've just been adding bridges to branch off flow where needed. Which is not at all optimal, but on the other hand I only have 10 dupes to support so most of the time the pipes are backed up anyway. I'll probably look into setting up a separate, dedicated electrolyzer for LOX production to dodge this issue, when I get around to that. (I already set up a hydrogen liquefier, but I've been distracted by other projects since).

If you use a bridge, you can actually do a 4 way split using only a 4x3 block are of piping.

Make a shallow U shape (1 down, 2 over, 1 back up) then a a taller U starting in the middle of the shallow 1 (2 down, 2 over, 2 back up) then bridge into the 4 way tile. The packets will be split each of the 4 ways taking turns.
