Using compost A water sieve can keep 2 compost piles running for 200g/s dirt. That's 120kg dirt per cycle there Also you can compost other things like meat, broken eggs, unused bristle berries. Just store them in PO2 near some compost piles with a sweeper You can also cook slime into dirt. The conversion might be 50% but it gives a better use for Pufts late game than shroom farming Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/101271-what-is-the-best-late-game-food-for-a-sustainable-base/page/2/#findComment-1139107 Share on other sites

Dups do not generate enough toilet/shower PW for peppers (food and espresso). And yes, as you say, it helps on the dirt production. I agree with PW being mandatory but there are lots of other ways to make PW A carbon skimmer with water sieve loop is a good way to turn CO2 into dirt Algae terrariums might eat up dupe time but converts water to PW at 95% rate. The algea needed can be supported by Pufts and distillers Late game power generation provide good PW too (petroleum and natural gas) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/101271-what-is-the-best-late-game-food-for-a-sustainable-base/page/2/#findComment-1139130 Share on other sites
cpy
For me I use water only stuffed berry and filter out PW for dirt. (if you have slush geyser it works best). If you have good PW source then you can farm sleet wheat. When you get low on dirt just switch to berries and let your dirt fill back. You can get a lot of PW if you have oil cooker, then your generators will create positive feedback loop on your water supply. Neotuck
I wish we had an option of building ice sculptures from polluted ice, would make PW from ice biomes easier to melt Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/101271-what-is-the-best-late-game-food-for-a-sustainable-base/page/2/#findComment-1139140 Share on other sites

lilibat
I have a complex, that I am still refining the design of, that is a pepper farm and drecko ranch with balm lilies. It's fully automated to move the drecko poop to the peppers and the picked peppers to the kitchen. I keep all the internal doors open so the drecko can wander through the peppers too so they don't get over crowded. Since the lillie and peppers like the same temp and all are happy with chlorine works great. Ranchers wear suits, of course. ChickenMadness
Just thought I'd come back and mention that you need an automated hatchery and kill room if you want to farm meat easily. Since I said ranching was the easiest source of food before. It's easy once you automate everything and the only duplicant interaction is grooming occassionally. I made a thread to explain how to build an automated hatchery/kill room that hatches eggs and kills the critters, if you don't know how to make one.TLDR explanation: Ranches make eggs. Eggs sent to egg dropper above kill room. Egg dropper drops eggs into kill room. Eggs hatch inside kill room. Water floods kill room Kills all critters Sweeper arm sends meat and egg shells to kitchen etc. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/101271-what-is-the-best-late-game-food-for-a-sustainable-base/page/2/#findComment-1139473 Share on other sites
JukedByLife
Berry sludge is the best IMO. Just wanted to point out that peppernuts do not increase calorie value in the foods they are used in, they only up the morale.
