Will people who don't have RoG be able to get Shipwrecked?

Recommended Posts

It's something I've been wondering about for a while. Atm, for single player DS, there are 2 versions of the game Klei need to take care of; Vanilla and RoG. With the addition of Shipwrecked, it is unnkown whether you'll be able to play just Shipwrecked or you'll have to play RoG+Shipwrecked to play the second DLC, but if you don't, then there will be 4 versions of single player DS that they will need to take care of. Can they keep up with that much? Or will there be only 3 versions, where RoG is required for you to play Shipwrecked?

I think it could generally use RoG rules (food spoil in crockpots, catched animals will starve, rain effects etc) just without RoG specific content like giants, spring, summer and new biomes. So it could be DS + two dlc that can be turned on simultaneously or separated.

Or Shipwrecked could be so different that will not use much of DS and RoG stuff (but RoG will grant access to Webber and Wigfrid)

Or perhaps they will do features that doesn't require RoG but if it's on, it adds special features

That would then mean that shipwrecked wouldn't be its own independent thing without RoG which would be a bummer. But I don't think it will be much of a bummer since most people that play DS with RoG will get Shipwrecked.

Why? It would be independant, just having some special triggers if RoG is on too

Well, independent, meaning RoG is not required, yes.

Independent meaning RoG and Shipwrecked don't intermix, no.

Personally I don't know which would be better, if they mixed or not.

I think the only real influence could be on the calamities...perhaps new ones if RoG seasons are on?

Mixed Of Course! More content is after-all MORE content! Plus I really can't wait to start base building with all the new materials! I hope there'll be new turfs even and maybe new trees, but a new log type, unlike Pine VS Birch. Like a palm tree or something. Imagine all the base building potential! I hope there'll be an open Beta.

I'm just thinking of how hard RoG was to learn compared to vanilla, and I'm also thinking of how hard Shipwrecked will be multiplied by RoG. The hype is real.
