Using algae terrariums early game

How many and is there a build that is easy to sustainto feed up to 6 dupes at least? I 'm trying to do a build i saw somewhere but working on getting chlorine for the water tanks to remove germs from the free water from siever.

Look at the screenshot. No pump in sight.

a fair point, but we don't see his whole base so we don't know what he's planning for the water

but the main danger of using sieve looped bathrooms isn't the water, it's the Pdirt

dupes will pick up the Pdirt and ether move them to a compost pile or to storage, ether way they will be covered in germs

if the dupe goes to the bathroom first during break time he'll be fine but if he eats first...

I usually put the sieve outside of the actual base on the other side of the wall to the bathroom. So the dupes need to put exosuits on first since I always build closed bases.

Solves the germ issue.

Exosuits as in post above or an extra sink. Or just not having a storage for pdirt - it's completely fine to just leave the pdirt stacking under the sieve.

just put sieve + compost in your bathroom (separated by door ofc to keep bathroom's bonus). i always make closed bathroom loop  with sieve + compost in "technical room" attachment. way to technical room is via bathroom, meaning via sinks - no germ issue. and regarding extra water - i found for myself that it's better to plant 1 reed fiber near sieve and redirect all extra pollutted water from toilets to it. so completely closed loop and from time to time you get reed fiber

Can't I just say I'm OCD about sanitation and will kill germs even if they pose no real threat?

That's very inefficient OCD. My bases are all made of layers spaced exactly 4 tiles from each other (molecular forges occupy two layers), all rock tiles are made of granite or insulated igneous, all geyser caps are as symmetric as possible, and so on, but I leave germs in. Because food poisoning germs in oxygen are actually beneficial for dupes.

I put the sieve and compost pile on the other side of bathroom so anyone interacting with the stuff has to leave through the sink row. No infections this way.
