Madbro
Hello guys! (•ω•)/ Lime supply has been a long problem for players who have reached the surface - we need lime for tons of steel! Now I have the simpliest solution on this - Why not just get limestone implemented. You can cook limestone in the kiln to get lime in a simple manner. Also limestone is a nice and beautiful construction material like granite. It’s that simple and good. (Also include marble if you want - It also has calcium carbonate as limestone does.) Hexicube
It already exists in the oil biome, look for fossil.

Coolthulhu
This was suggested multiple times. Klei choose a gamey approach to calcium as an element. This way it can be balanced and fun. Adding limestone would either break the balance or not be as realistic as it's supposed to be: IRL, calcium is very common and certainly not a limiting factor in steel production. Sasza22
I think limestone art is already in the game. I think it might be added later as a part of a new biome or if they change something about how materials work (refined minerals etc). For now i`m ok with fossils being our main source of lime. crypticorb
Lime isn't a real bottleneck currently since the implementation of fossils, so I can't really see a need to add a less interesting ore material to fill a role that is already filled. That being said, I've always found it odd that Klei created lime as a bottleneck at all in steel production. The proportions for refined carbon to iron would result in garbage metal. Any percentage of carbon greater than about 3% is trash, and the proportions in ONI are 30%, which is stupid. On top of that, lime is only used to extract sulfur and phosphorous from the steel in the form of slag. Very little quantity of the lime is required, nor is lime (or calcium carbonate) a very uncommon or difficult to obtain material.
