Glassyfo
Is there a way to fill up a normal battery and a smart battery at the same time? So that when the smart battery is full the normal battery is also full? Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/97936-batteries/ Share on other sites
ulashoca41
u can use buffer gate delay to signal. maybe 20 or 25 sec delay. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/97936-batteries/#findComment-1108443 Share on other sites

And vice versa? Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/97936-batteries/#findComment-1108449 Share on other sites

Zarquan
I would use smart batteries as much as possible, as they have a reduced power loss per unit energy stored. Of course, I use regular batteries if I feel I am short on refined metal. I don't feel that big of a need for a buffer. Then again, I try to run nat gas generators constantly for the water (especially when I get a crude oil => nat gas machine running), so maybe I'm not the best person to talk about solar systems. I've had 3 consecutive meteor showers followed by nighttime. I would agree that you don't want to have a small buffer if your primary power source is solar. I would like to be clear though that my suggestion called for lots of smart batteries. Rows of them. You don't use them for the automation (unless you want to use them to turn on nat gas generators or coal or something). The downside would be that you would need twice as many and, if you have enough solar, you don't really care about wasted power. Neotuck
When it comes to solar power the "waste power" comes from when the power you generate exceeds your storage capacity, which far out weighs the power lost from "leaky" large batteries Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/97936-batteries/#findComment-1108473 Share on other sites
SakuraKoi
Why would you use normal Batteries when Smart ones look smoother? Oh, and there is 80% of the heat production~ (Personally I prefer Refined Metal simply because of its Thermal Conductivity) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/97936-batteries/#findComment-1108485 Share on other sites

SakuraKoi
Looks are of course more important! (and using Steel for Batteries sure a good way to waste it) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/97936-batteries/#findComment-1108488 Share on other sites

Can't argue with that Although to be fair they have a good argument. Batteries does offer double the capacity, making the runoff irrelevant ( what does it matter if you loose extra 2.677j/s when you have extra 20kj which is the equivalent of 12cycles! ); it also might be a good source to dump your low tear materials in the end game; and finally the extra heat generation might be a boon if you have your steam turbine setup near by!
