Neotuck
Been working on space efficiency for hatches to allow quick and easy grooming, short travel time for ranchers, and max space for 8 hatches total I have three stables stacked sideways, can stack more if needed all extra space is used for storage Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/97931-best-hatch-stable-so-far/ Share on other sites
crypticorb
Can you show a shipping overlay? What's the point of the autosweeper, if not for moving feeder material? Also, is there some reason you don't use suspended storage lockers? Saves a huge amount of space, as storage compactors function perfectly without any floor under them, so long as dupes can reach the bottom-most tile. I had tried this but at most you only can fit an extra 4 compactors and you sacrifice dupe travel time to achieve this (dupes can only move up and down the ladder) this triples the travel distance for the rancher. not worth it for just 4 compactors Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/97931-best-hatch-stable-so-far/#findComment-1108427 Share on other sites

Lifegrow
Why not put some doors at the bottom level? Save your dupes from going up/down ladders to groom. Wouldn't say it was the best hatch farm I've seen by a long way buddy to be blunt with you, and I guarantee you'll lose lots of precious materials over time from dupe animation drops. While it's rare I have seen critters run though open doors so I try to avoid having doors at floor level in stables and I know it's not the best, the title is more of a challenge to see if other players can post better stables you'll have to explain the "lose lots of precious materials" part, I never had any problems Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/97931-best-hatch-stable-so-far/#findComment-1108453 Share on other sites

To make sure, you can have them 2 tiles off the floor, critters wont jump/enter an airlock in the time it takes to close. 2 minutes ago, Neotuck said: and I know it's not the best, the title is more of a challenge to see if other players can post better stables Your title of the thread is "Best Hatch Stable (so far)" - implying this is your best version of your best possible hatch farm - I was just pointing out that this isn't exactly reinventing the wheel. 4 minutes ago, Neotuck said: you'll have to explain the "lose lots of precious materials" part, I never had any problems By this I mean, when you actually play a full playthrough, over time you'll notice lots, and lots of "dupe droppings" - often near storage areas. This is usually down to a shift change/status change mid job, i.e. a dupe needs to pee, eat, sleep, dance, write a sonnet, or shower. This results in "droppings" culminating around storage areas - and big tall storage areas filled with jumping gaps and ladders are a prime suspect. Play a colony for 500 cycles and it'll be annoying. Play a colony for 2000 cycles and you'll have pissed away a lot of materials. While I have seen dupes drop items the way you described, they are usually picked up by the next cycle so I never had a real problem with it. Usually as I get close to cycle 1000 I'm more worried about what causes lag. Never made it to 2000 though, I usually start over when new updates come out. screepka
Im trying this setup in current run. stone & sage -> raw egg pros: minimalization cowboy time, minimalization consumption of dirt/water for plastic production, compact cons: if too crowded unhappy room - transfer from incubation to "unhappy room" sometimes fails. i thinking of move egg-dropper to "unhappy room". and then i need manualy move breeding animal one time (* 3 stable) in one hundred cycles. SamLogan
Here's mine with the same idea to use the not used tiles : To extract the eggs there's another solution, just open door quickly during the night and the eggs will fall, not the hatch. You will obtain a little less of eggs than the auto-sweeper but see how many hatchs I have. That can happen when they load the feeder or pick up something from inside the room. Also when a narcoleptic dupe takes a nap in the door. I never had critters run from clean stables that have no buildings near the door but it happened in stables where i didn`t pay attention to building placement and left debris on the ground.
