Need high-temp pump urgently

Recommended Posts

So I just went into the magma-biome on a map newly generated yesterday. The thing is there are already 2 heat-leaks with 1/4 of the map I can see and most crude oil is > 150C. It seems the world-gen now has creates another problem that really needs to be dealt with fast. Might also just have gotten really unlucky here.

But how to deal with it? The minerals, I can dig out and cool over time, but the oil I cannot even move, with the 125C limit on pumps.

A good solution is to dump a load of polluted water on it.

If the oil is 150oC, it will boil some of it, but eventually the polluted water will cool off the oil and surroundings to the point of it being workable. Simply drain the nearest swamp biome straight into the oil biome and let it sit.

Agreed is the solution whit iron, cooper or magma sensor, or chlorine sensor, but all require complex setups, it's easier to increase by kley the range of the thermosensor.

Also agreed.. magma can't be transmuted only whit doors compressors, gas cascade or bottled

Thanks. And after having now isolated one thermal leak and found the other was a single tile of magma on the wrong side, I also think this was just bad luck. (Large diamond area separated from magma via a single rock-tile and a large magma-pocket own behind it.)

I did found oil at usable temperatures now, but I will probably have to pipe in water later as all 3 oil reservoirs are in the affected area. Oh, well, things like this make every game unique...

Rejoice! The new preview lets you use steel as both a raw AND refined metal, meaning that steel pumps can draw in liquid up to 275°C! That might not fix your current map, but help IS coming!

Not just steel, although I do think that will be enough for the topic starter  to deal with his/her problem. Niobium will get you 500°C bonus, Thermite will be a 900°C bonus. But, the latter 2 materials are only attainable on other asteroids on the starmap. Steel is therefore your best friend.
