Gas colours

I think atmosphere overlay is more aimed at showing "breathable" air

It's literally called the O2 overlay, so yeah. Back in the day we used to have a gas overlay, and later we also had mods that gave the same functionality.

Like this. It was so much more helpful to game play. I wish they'd reintroduce that.

nowadays it can't show the difference between clean O2 and slimelung infested polluted oxygen

I don't see that being any different than not being able to see Wires on the Plumbing overlay.  If you're looking for Germs, use the Germ overlay.

More importantly, now that we have the Popped Eardrums status, and the Steam Turbine needing a pressure gradient, this information could be bundled into a reworked Atmosphere overlay.  Color would indicate what gas, and pressure lines could be introduced for every 500 g or so of difference.

*cough cough like I proposed some time ago cough cough*

Gradients would be real nice.

I know this is pushing the boat out, they could even have the overlay display show Oxygen in blue, Hydrogen in Pink, CO2 in black and Natural gas in orange....

Those colours weren't the same, they were Hydrogen in pink, CO2 in black, Natural gas in orange and Oxygen in blue.... :D

That's what you wrote you wanted. I can add that polluted oxygen is (sickly) green and chlorine is yellow as well.

Btw, I should note that in the mod you could set the pressure each hue resembled. You could have 7 hues. And by default I think it was step 1: below 10g, then 100g, 400g (breathable oxygen threshold), 1kg, 4kg (eardrum popping threshold), 10kg, and 40kg and above. Note the breathable and eardrum popping thresholds may have changed but the idea was that there would be 3 level below and above those threshold, and the "safe" range would be divided into 2.
