Craigjw
I'm finding that the gas colours aren't helpful, we seem to have 2 colours of gas, red and blue, which encompass all the gasses, including vacuum... I think it would be much more helpful if each gas had it's own colour. PhailRaptor
In normal view, they do. Hydrogen is pink, Oxygen is blue, Chlorine is green, NatGas is orange. In the atmosphere overlay, you are correct. It is a commonly held opinion among the playerbase that it is an effectively useless overlay. Neotuck
I think atmosphere overlay is more aimed at showing "breathable" air Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/96039-gas-colours/#findComment-1089458 Share on other sites

Back in the day we used to have a gas overlay, and later we also had mods that gave the same functionality. Like this. It was so much more helpful to game play. I wish they'd reintroduce that. Neotuck
nowadays it can't show the difference between clean O2 and slimelung infested polluted oxygen Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/96039-gas-colours/#findComment-1089467 Share on other sites
Nitroturtle
I use the gas overlay mod shown above in the current version. This is the way it *should* be by default. Along with the material color mod, which I also think should be in by default. Both are extremely useful. If you're looking for Germs, use the Germ overlay. More importantly, now that we have the Popped Eardrums status, and the Steam Turbine needing a pressure gradient, this information could be bundled into a reworked Atmosphere overlay. Color would indicate what gas, and pressure lines could be introduced for every 500 g or so of difference. *cough cough like I proposed some time ago cough cough* Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/96039-gas-colours/#findComment-1089476 Share on other sites

I know this is pushing the boat out, they could even have the overlay display show Oxygen in blue, Hydrogen in Pink, CO2 in black and Natural gas in orange.... That's what you wrote you wanted. I can add that polluted oxygen is (sickly) green and chlorine is yellow as well. Btw, I should note that in the mod you could set the pressure each hue resembled. You could have 7 hues. And by default I think it was step 1: below 10g, then 100g, 400g (breathable oxygen threshold), 1kg, 4kg (eardrum popping threshold), 10kg, and 40kg and above. Note the breathable and eardrum popping thresholds may have changed but the idea was that there would be 3 level below and above those threshold, and the "safe" range would be divided into 2.
