Less regolith

Recommended Posts

Late game colonies are drowning under this crap. A single rego-comet deposits 20t or so. When there are literal kilotons of it, it has a noticeable impact on performance, especially when it is being tossed around by comets.

There is no way to get rid of it fast enough without glitches.

If we cut the regolith spawn amounts by 90% there would still be too much of this stuff. Maybe let the mined out chunks add to the soild tiles once spawned so mining it out again will half the amount every time effectively removing the excess regolith.

I've said several times, bake the amount deposited on impact vary with height, higher when the impact is at low elevation, and subtract mass when impacting at high elevation (say its ejected into orbit).  This keeps the surface of the regolith and the total quantity stable when ignored, and if you mine it the 'hole' just fills back in.

Between the meteor impact damage and large amounts of regolith deposited my telesope constantly needs to be unburried and repaired. This in turn caused half my colony to get killed between digging, repairing and carrying incapacitated folks back to base.
