Whats with the telescope?

I build a telescope, supplys are okay so far, but it states "view blocked".

I have the "standard" setup with bunkers doors above, below automatic doors for debrie killing (currently open), and below a row of glass-tiles (made from diamond)

Light overlay tells me, its fine so far, but the telescope wont work. 

Does it really has to be placed atop? And how do you protect it then?

It sounds like it (and also after the update, the meteor scanner) are unable to "see" through glass tiles - see https://www.reddit.com/r/Oxygennotincluded/comments/9aeko3/the_rocket_upgrade_is_super_fun_but_why_ninja/

 

This could be unintended due to the changes to the autosweeper sight lines in the update, but that might just be wishful thinking.

@SharraShimada: It would be helpful to have a screenshot.

 

From what i have figured out so far is that need to be in (unobstructed) range of space tiles. I am not quite sure where the radius of the "view" is centered, but my current guess is that it is not just above the telescope, but also to the sides of it.

So what you might want to do is to build the telescope completely on space tiles and just to be on the safe side, also make sure that there are no buildings to the side of it. It goes without saying that the top should also be open.

Telescope need a cone view a little like the meteor scanner. Straight view isn't enough.

 Well, good thing is this thing works without glass if you do not want to generate power.

use mesh tiles instead of glass...
