As you can see, picture 1, expressive upgrade

you can put many fishes in one tank and they'll produce one egg before dying(and believe me even with all those fishes I only produced 3 tons of steel in 4 hours of idling with super speed and as we know it, we need 25. It was too late anyway and the meteors destroyed 2 whole biomes)

And in picture 2, rocketry upgrade
you can't make this fish farm anymore, meaning that you either have to make 1 pond for each fish which might as well take the whole map and be ineffective, or try to use the fossils but they're not too reliable from what I see

Or you can spam steam turbines or solar panels, which I guess I'll do because steel production needs a rework
and please at least mention this stuff in the patch notes, it's kinda rude in my opinion

Do you have an egg in the pool in the 2nd screenshot ? (hard to see with all those fish).

In the current version you just have to move them somewhere else, but maybe they changed the egg detection to include the entire space the fish are in, not just the water.

Yes I do have an egg there, it's behind the meat

I know it's now *working as intended* but it's basically a nerf to the only reliable way of getting steel

Strange that you don't have the problem in EU though, the expecting debuff is not new. You either have to remove the eggs from the pool to get rid of it, or have your pool in a big open space so that each fish and egg in it can virtually allocate 8 tiles for itself. If that still works then nothing's changed.

Also fossils in RU are now a fairly easy way to get lime for steel.

they weren't getting the expecting debuff in the expressive upgrade despite there being eggs

In EU expecting is checking for overall room size, I'm guessing RU checks for liquid tiles.

That would make sense, I'd be glad they changed it that way. In that case it's now a requirement to remove the eggs from the pool.

I'm just curious if devs really intended hands off ranching to rely on interrupting auto sweeper.

Inb4 they make the stuff picked up stay in the sweeper when turned on to nerf all the things.

Honestly i don`t think they even considered the auto sweeper as a tool to drop stuff on the ground, furthermore a tool for auto ranching. But i guess they are ok with the designs we came up with... for now.

Yeah would Be fun If they stopped eggdropping, then ranching would truely Be a nightmare.

To OP, If you lack for eggs/meat/fossils you can still make petrol 1:1 from oil & this Burns to 25% co2, a huge input of calories&eggs from slicksters.

1 petrol generator I believe feeds 15.

Honestly, I'm not convinced they are happy with the concept of "hands off ranching" at all.  I suppose it depends on what you mean by it.  Are we talking about the player's hands, or the Dupe's hands?

Surely the former. The player's energy is better spent into layout planning, system designing and organisation of he colony's workforce ; not the frequent and very repetitive egg monitoring that we should be able to automate seamlessly.

I'm not. The only unknown factor is : why is it taking so long to address an aspect of the game that has such a big negative impact on the gaming experience ? There is certainly a reason, but I can't wait for an eventual fix. Having to build arm droppers everywhere is draining.
