What's your kJ per dupe?

Recommended Posts

So I did a recent power audit and realized my old hydrogren/regulator based cooling system was responsible for half my energy usage. I swapped it out for an oil/radiant-pipe based system and halved my daily energy usage. In the image below you can see my 10 dupe colony uses 1100kJ, or about 110kJ/dupe.

I'm wondering how others colonies are running on a per dupe basis?

Most of my kJ go to my oil boiler/ng system, but the current kJ / dupe is 34,6 kJ/Dupe.

I have a free breathing oxygen/hydrogen system, with centralized polluted water cooling for the living areas, rest of my world is 42C.

+ 10megajoules burned/wasted to water/co2:

My SPOM are cooled by weeze and a zero power H2 radiator.  I never "repump" fluids so use closed loops and recycles.  Lowest I had was 16 dups at 1100 power, and had to burn H2 to waste power to avoid building it up.

If I want 48/20 morale dups, the peppers/wheat consumer a bit more power (I have PW at 30C so some heating and I am too lazy to get the volcano going to do it for free) so currently 18 dups at ~2000.but still just H2 and less NG than I get from the geysers.

Same as Chemie here, I currently have 18 dupes for ~1Kj/cycle consumption.

O2 comes into the base at ~10°C, 1 SPOM has its O2 cooled by a nullifier, and another one uses 4 wheezeworts in a closed room with radiant pipes.

Living quarters around 24°C with a few wheezeworts here and there, but I tend to surround my base with insulated tiles to make a closed space, with waterlocks/exosuits checkpoints as points of entry/exit to the outside world (although I would definitely not do that with 68 dupes like Carnis ^^).

So before, the daily usage was 2200 KJ ?!

No other change than H2 cooling to oil?

Yep. Old set up with a hydrogen loop driven by two pumps through 1-5 thermo-regulators to drive it down to -230 degrees. Regulators vented heat into a wheezwort room.

Now I have a single liquid pump moving oil through radiant pipes over an AETN. The oil is only down to 10C, but it's more than enough to use as a condenser on a steam geysers.

My current play through I'm using 24 kJ/dupe/cycle (7 dupes cycle 250) but it's a pretty strange base.

This isn't a comparable data point, but I'm doing a base where I'm oxygenating the entire map using slime from the swamp biomes and deodorizers, stretching algae and water reserves to the absolute maximum. One side effect of this strategy is that it's extremely power efficient. Don't need electrolyzers, hardly need any cooling, getting by fine without exosuits (I'll only need them when I start playing with hot stuff or I go to space, which is soon, just uncovered a big volcano). Zero air systems.

I'm averaging about 170 kJ/cycle with replenishable water, on 7 dupes, at cycle 250 - that's 24 kJ/dupe/cycle. I only have 2 coal generators and they're hardly utilized.The first resource I'll run out of is slime, but I don't think that's a worry until around cycle 900.

Edit: actually, a full three-quarters of that power use is in two refrigerators I've left running. If I just set up a sterile CO2 basin for food storage, my number would be 6 kJ/dupe/cyle. Interesting, doing it now.
