Tracking resources (and other things) over time

Recommended Posts

It would be nice to be able to select an item from the expandable list on the upper right and see a graph or chart of how it's count has gone up or down over time in order to see trends and/or estimate when it will run out.  For example, at the beginning of a game I often track my food coal and algae over time on PAPER.  That's no fun.  It would be great to click on a resource and see a graph that you can zoom in and out of to see short and long term trends, or if that is too much data, to have the ability to select up to X resources and track their values over time, or at least even an arrow to see whether it's gone up or down since the last cycle.

I'd also like the ability to Put a thermometer somewhere and see the temperature of that particular tile over time, to determine the effectiveness of my cooling strategy, etc, how quickly my water is heating up, etc...    Perhaps a new type of automation sensor that tracks its measurements over time,  or even add historical tracking to the existing sensors for pressure or temperature or power level in the case of smart batteries.

Also I find the cycle reports to be completely useless, sorry.

adding a personal preference. the cycle report give information per cycle, while in game objects give information of their input/ouput per second, it would be nice if they unify this or give a toggle/hover option. I can not math in the go :(

On top of that you have to know yourself that a cycle = 600 seconds, there is literally no mention about it in the game xD

It would be super great to have charts of a number of game statistics over time. Factorio is a great example of a game that includes many useful charts, especially its Production and Consumption graphs.

It'd be super useful if Oxygen supported similar graphs. Ideally, we could see a graph of consumption of every item type in the game (sand, dirt, water, etc.) over time, as well as production. Energy system production and consumption over time.

This would help a player understand when they're on a collision course with problems before running into them -- e.g., you could see that you're consuming dirt at an alarming rate. Based on the average consumption rate, maybe you'll run out of dirt in 5 cycles, which is a problem because your mealwood farm depends on it -- for example.
