Sleet Farm no water

So I had an idea
If you drop wheezewort seeds on the right tile they just start growing
soooo.
What if you cool water until it turns into ice and then drop sleet wheat grain on it? It almost feels like cheating. It will be slow growing but no input required. Just build a massive farm of it...

It won't work. Only wheezewort seeds replant themselves. The rest of plant don't have this privilege. 

For late food stick whit bristle berry and meat, wheat only in the frost biome, and only wilde. For now is not profitable to grow sleet wheat.

I feed 17 dupes on wild grown Pepper bread and still have surplus. Even with all other foods are disabled.

You're very smart and your idea worked before, like in agriculture update. However in current version, only wheezeworts reproduce itself when dropped. 

My way of using sleet wheats is just leave where they are, and lock the whole ice area with double-liquid-door (which block both air flow and heat conduction), and set those wild sleet wheats as auto harvest. You won't believe that the wild sleet wheats in the whole map can feed more than 15 dupes forever.

C'mon guys, don't exaggerate. Sleet wheets don't need that much water. Every map is guaranteed two cold steam geysers - you'll have more water than needed to support both sleet wheats and bristle blossoms for 20 dupes.

natural plant don't grow from a seed since a long time know.

 

But i already try it, also it's quite fun to create new ground by changing water in ice ^^
