psusi
I built a stable around a puft and he never gets groomed and is staying wild. Can they not be tamed? Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/93923-can-pufts-be-tamed/ Share on other sites
Cantouki
They can be tamed if you have a Rancher dupe and grooming station. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/93923-can-pufts-be-tamed/#findComment-1068000 Share on other sites
Soulwind
You don't even need a stable (right now at least, this will probably change eventually). Grooming stations (and shearing stations for dreckos) will work when not in a stable. It's just a bit harder to keep the critters from wandering off if you don't enclose them in a room. For Pufts, I just build a really big room (way to big to qualify as a stable) and put a grooming station in it. They get tamed. Again, I expect that this will probably be changed eventually so that the grooming station has to be in a stable to work, but it's doable right now. The 'Critter Whistle' seems to be roughly 15-16 squares in radius, or the size of the enclosure if they're stabled. I think 'ifStabled' wins and then it doesn't matter how far they are if they're in the stable, otherwise there's a radius. I had a really random build that I decided to send my 7 ranchers to go play with pufts, and that 'feels' right. It's certainly not a scientific conclusion. psusi
Hrm... my rancher does not seem to want to go visit the grooming station in the puft pen. I was worried it was because I built it around the puft rather than capturing him with a lure ( no plastic yet ). Soulwind
Can he reach it? Path, air, etc? Also do you have enough other critters to groom that he never has the time? psusi
Seems to be working now... I have one tame puft prince laying eggs in a room with some polluted water to keep him fed with polluted oxygen. heckubis
oh and you can use auto-wrangle to catch wilds so long as they float into range(pufts and shinebugs). just set the drop off point trap to not allow the critter you want to capture, and another for where you want it. if it enters range rancher will run to get it based on priority.
