Can pufts be tamed?

Recommended Posts

You don't even need a stable (right now at least, this will probably change eventually).

Grooming stations (and shearing stations for dreckos) will work when not in a stable.  It's just a bit harder to keep the critters from wandering off if you don't enclose them in a room.

For Pufts, I just build a really big room (way to big to qualify as a stable) and put a grooming station in it.  They get tamed.  Again, I expect that this will probably be changed eventually so that the grooming station has to be in a stable to work, but it's doable right now.

The 'Critter Whistle' seems to be roughly 15-16 squares in radius, or the size of the enclosure if they're stabled.  I think 'ifStabled' wins and then it doesn't matter how far they are if they're in the stable, otherwise there's a radius.  I had a really random build that I decided to send my 7 ranchers to go play with pufts, and that 'feels' right.  It's certainly not a scientific conclusion.

oh and you can use auto-wrangle to catch wilds so long as they float into range(pufts and shinebugs). just set the drop off point trap to not allow the critter you want to capture, and another for where you want it. if it enters range rancher will run to get it based on priority.
