Aquatuner in cold water always output pipe overheating

Recommended Posts

The abysalite pipe at the green exit always overheats. I have two aquas in row, but even if they run alone the second one always the pipe overheats until it breaks. I put them on different sites on the map. No luck. My test concluded that no matter what, the game only allows one aquatuner. The second one presumably puts out water at 2x the cached temperature of one. Code issues I guess.

When you select an aquatuner you could see, that it cools a fixxed amount (around 14°), when you cool water down to freezing point, pipes break.
Abbyssalite prevents changing of temperature, but is "allergic" against staus changing materials inside..
Use pipe temp sensor to watch/prevent it. Use a bypassline with liquid shutoffs, to feed specific lines.
Cool enough -
Can run through aqua again -
I stay some ° away from status change point..

Hard to diagnose this without more information.  Specifically, a screenshot of your setup would be helpful.  Other relevant info:

-> What liquid are you running through the Aquatuners?

-> What temperature is it when it goes through the first one?

-> Are you sure it's "Overheat" damage?

My initial thought is the same as Oozi's.  The liquid you are running through the Aquatuners is getting too cold and changing from a liquid to a solid as  it exists the second Aquatuner, resulting in the Pipes breaking (only liquids allowed in Liquid Pipe).

This.  and the problem is SO annoying as I have to release water with the temps above what I really wanted because one more pass through would put it close to freezing so if you let it go the pipe breaks.  My build that worked just fine like this before CU to give me water at 2 degrees, now has the exit pipe break constantly.    I have mine in a loop with a pipe thermal sensor set to release at 7 degrees right now and the pipe breaks pretty often, I would have to be releasing at 17 or so to be safe as aquatuner is  "Cooling factor: -14 °C" but I want the dang water to be colder than that.  Used to even if the pipe broke, it still passed water through, now when it breaks, the aquatuner keeps running but nothing comes out.   If someone knows a better way let me know.  The only thing I could think of was passing the 17 degree water through a wheezewort/hydrogen box but the seed I'm playing has hardly any wheezies  :(  This is one of the major annoyances to me in the CU upgrade.

this is bad because with 15 people I struggle to get enough water from the geysirs cooled down fast enough. Don't have time to cool p2ho to cool h2o. Need to cool hot water directly.

Run the hot geyser water to a carbon skimmer at the bottom of your base, then to a water sieve

Instant 40C water plus some polluted dirt to compost

I'm all out of Sand, Dirt and Polluted Dirt. Can't boil polluted water fast enough to keep up. So I tried the ore smelter. But it gets so hot immediatly since the last update that it blows up in hot steam after a while

I don't know how you're running out of sand  I always have a ton of it everywhere.  Heck, grind up some rocks in a smasher  Sorry, got distracted.  ANYWAY  .. if you want to cool water fast, set up your second aquatuner with a bypass using a temperature switch.   If the temperature of your water is 16c or colder, send it through the bypass.  The likely cause of your pipes breaking is that the water is freezing as it exits the second aquatuner.

I'm in cycle 6801. So there is not much left from the starting place lol

If you have any volcanos, you have sand.  If you have sand, you have polluted dirt.  .. I'm also going to guess that you don't have a world generated since the surface update, because you'd have sand falling on your base daily.

Cool polluted water with the aquatuner and use that to do the fine tuned cooling of the clean water.  PH2O has a lower freeze point so you can send it safely to the aquatuner when it's at 0C.

Ugh.  So should have thought of this, at the other end of my map, I'm using slush geyser water to do this....  Thank you for the reminder....
