Rebalance Creativity

well.. there can be chances of getting master work like higher creativity = higher chance, not an instant switch

That would be annoying and not helpful. It would mean you could still get masterworks by trying over and over, manually.

It would make it more similar to rerolling your starting dupes, and if we do

Switch + chance

it gives the player some measure of control as well.  It may end up with someone rolling for +8creative dupes on starting a new game but would be more reasonable in my opinion than the current system.

It occurs to me this would reveal a previously hidden exploit.  Whoever finishes the painting determines its quality, so a newb can do 99% of the work and right before releasing their fruit bowl get distracted by a potty break, then a master swoops in and starry nights it at the last second.

I think the bigger problem is that artwork is permanent, so artist is a temporary job and something you never need more then 1 of.

If artworks were to decay in some way (reverting back to before they are decorated so no materials need to be consumed) and the artists redo them then you have a reason to keep artists, and actually care about their skills.  It also means you need to be more selective about where you put the limited amount of art you can sustain.

High creativity dupes can work fast, so they can keep more art up to date, or raise it to a higher level when it's getting redone so it both lasts longer and is more potent.

My though was that the artworks degrade by becoming novice level art and then just blank.  I know that doesn't make much physical sense for a painting to change from the Mona Lisa to a stick-figure, but its easy for the player to see the decline without creating an additional visual signal that could be confusing.  If you want to justify it say the art is becoming 'boring' from having been seen so much and the image we see is just a representation of the dupes jadedness.

For paintings it could be that the "paint" substance the art gun sprays degrades over time due to absorbing moisture and/or oxidizing, then the painting's decor bonus and decor radius would decrease over time, and to make this visible blur and color changing filters could be applied to the painting image.  If left to itself for long enough the painting might even start giving a decor penalty because it looks ugly and surreal.

To do something similar with sculptures you'd have to change them from being made out of rock to be being made out of something like sand or algae. The art gun would do something to the substance to make it rigid and change its color, but both would degrade over time, with the same effects as for the paintings degrading, but unlike paintings would eventually just collapse back into their original substance.  Of course, this would mean that the sculptures wouldn't get a decor bonus from being made out of granite.  However, paintings get a decor bonus for being made out of granite despite the fact that only the frame is made from granite, so sculptures could changed so that the base/dias/plinth/whatever is made from rock with the algae/sand placed on top of it (but that would require the code allow for buildings made from two different substances).
