abud
I want to make this polymer press inside base without special room (like hydrogen chamber) and without liquid pump. Main problem here, building doesn't seem to change temperature with temp plates, which is strange in my opinion. I can use 3 metal tile, which hold polymer press 20C-30C (when run non-stop), but it will be create puddle or sometimes ice. Because I don't want that, left most tile has to be mesh. This making polymer press stabilize around 110C, which is too dangerous because too small diff with overheating point (they rise so fast). Liquid cooler: My old setup in ranch II was like this, which need that little pump. And just dump heat into surrounding PW which very little because huge mass difference, Cannot run continuously and need special room, I like to try without it. Spoiler It is one of unused machinery after some critters replace them. Capitainefada
My plan for polymer presses is much simpler: The press produces steam. This condenses very quickly and makes a thin conduction layer with the PH2O underneath. All very efficiently transfers the heat of the press to the PH2O and works around 60 °. I built my copper press. If you make it in gold, when the system starts (as long as there is no water), the press heats up and goes a little damaged (but not break) because gold has a heat mass much lower than copper (or iron). 0xFADE
It is off on the right side but I've used this design for awhile. It works for cooling other things as well. It does require a pump though. The pump is set to turn on at a temperature and a valve is set to drop water in when the volume is under an amount. So it balances itself out. The idea with using water is because of the steam it produces. It will make puddles that would mess with polluted water. abud
I want to use simple design that works, because we know that this is just temporary, right? Once glossy drecko start producing, petrol is too precious for plastic. 2 hours ago, Capitainefada said: I built my copper press. If I'm using active cooler, I should make it transferring heat as fast as possible, right? In your case that's true because there is no active cooler. 1 hour ago, 0xFADE said: It is off on the right side Wait, I didn't realize we can rotate that thing. I am more interested in your electrolyzer, I made open electrolyzer with pressure problem. It doesn't flow to the side as fast as I want them to be. Sometimes it even maxed pressure and stuck for almost half cycle, even though nearby room only 1100 g. Forcing me to put oxygen pump, which defeat the purpose of open electrolyzer. DyingCrow
Dont build presses in colony. The mess you have to build around to make them manageable is not worth it, when you can build them down at the source, dump some liquid on them and not even have to care about the heat they produce, because down there everything is already toasty. Same for oil refineries and stuff, all you need from down there is power wires and a pipe for any oil you want to bring up. I need to think about that. It is heat on that machine itself that hard to manage, as for impact to environment is easy to counter. BlueLance
Use sweeper arms to do it for you? Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/91762-how-to-make-open-polymer-press/#findComment-1048237 Share on other sites

Might as well use mini pump for 60W and use condensed water. I think I will do that in the end, until I get my glossy drecko. abud
Ok, I'm done with this press for now. Should works until glossy drecko replace it. I just move it down a bit and close one side to prevent dupe going around. Didn't use sweeper because it's in center of base. I follow @Capitainefada suggestion to not use gold amalgam. It can run non-stop for less than 20C. Thanks all for various input. My electrolyzers are hitting max pressure most of the time. There is still a pretty consistent amount of hydrogen going in to the pump. I use a double mechanical filter to separate out the hydrogen for the generator and then the oxygen for the suits(in case some other gas gets in that room) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/91762-how-to-make-open-polymer-press/#findComment-1048458 Share on other sites

I even tried using dense puft to help with pressure. It's helps a bit, but not enough. Btw, dense puft can reduce oxygen temperature to their body temperature, and can remove all germs (if any) from oxygen.
