Sand+Fertilizer=Dirt

Growing Meal Lice requires dirt which can't be reproduced with any way outside debug mode other than heating crap up which creates a problem with heat.

It would be great if we can produce dirt from some readily avalible resources

Meal lice are early game food source. If resources weren't finite they would just be OP.

But I give you credit for easier dirt production. I would suggest compost to make dirt not fertilizer!

this would be a much more realistic approach. We had a compost heap in the garden and in the end you get dirt (humus soil). Sure it's "fertilizer " as well since it's fresh, good dirt and plants love it but it's dirt in the first way!

Plus it wouldn't be op. It would need dupe Labour and would be a early to mid game solution until folks start higher quality food production.

Or people could maintain a smaller meal lice farm infinatly for critter food

@felix920506 Before you create a new post on the forums, consider doing a simple keyword search for what you're asking.

Dirt can be made easily by cooking fertilizer (which can be mass produced) into dirt, and dirt can be cooked into sand. It's not difficult for anyone with skill.

Why not making dirt from compost pile? An easy solution for early game - early game does not require fertilizer now, only dirt for mealwood + also, dirt becomes renewable + compost pile drop item will match with color of pile itself.

.

Sounds good.

Compost Pile turns polluted dirt into dirt for early game farming.

Fertilizer maker turns polluted water into fertilizer for mid-late game farming.

Plus, you can already dig up fertilizer in the starting biome if you somehow need it before you can set up a fertilizer maker. The water sieve already produces polluted dirt by filtering polluted water, so that could provide a source of polluted dirt to compost into usable dirt.

I do wish it didn't get turned into block form. I'd like to put a storage inside a heated area and have it keep its form inside the storage. ;c
