All rooms are 16x4 to get the max 64 tiles for rec room, latrine, med bay, and barracks. Usually I only build one barracks room first as I can fit 8 cots in one then once I get plastic start building the other 5 rooms for a max of 18 dupes. I like to keep the base air tight surrounded by insulator tiles Why do you generally have the door up one tile from the room floor? edit: I suppose it could be to help contain messes and the like from flooding the base, is that correct? You are correct, it makes for easy cleanups of messes. If you ever have a change of plumbing and get water on the floor, or melt ice sculptures for easy cooling, it makes a mess. Bulkhead style rooms keep it contained. This is especially useful at the entrances/exits to the base, where flooding is often a common occurrence, and keeping polluted water out is important. eggsvbacon
I build 22 tile length floors that start at the center from the 4 tile printer thing, 3 tile wide space from the next floor, ladder between it. (This is both sides.) What really squiggles my granola is how the dupe printer starting area doesn't spawn centered in terms of length. I stole layout from LifeGrow. I would imagine that most of the cooling comes from the O2 supply. I don't see any Electrolyzers anywhere in that image, so it is most likely generated elsewhere and pumped in. Most people either use a SPOM design, or deliberately manufacture their O2 in an Ice Biome for pre-cooling, or some other means of making their O2 temperate before releasing it into their base.
