Gulp fish not working?

What temperature is the polluted water?

Started at -20C, warmed it up gradually to 9C. Didn't see it activate for even a single tick.

Out of all my 3 gulp fish spawns (out of all ~20 pacu egg spawns I've seen, 3 were 2% chance gulp fish spawns), the 2 "wild" ones filtered as expected, then died to overheating. The one fish I contained in a nice cool tank refused to filter, though.

For now you need to keep them wild in ph2o as close to the freeze point as you can get reliably without the ph2o turning to ice. Use sweepers to collect the frozen clean water and deliver it to your clean water tank/s

keeping them wild but still using the feeder works, if you omit dupes to enter the water. if the feeder is filled with algae, and you empty it by disabling the feeder content, the algae just drops down into the water - just keep dupes from picking it up.

you can fill the feeder with two thousand kg algae - if you drop that there should be enough for a lot of cycles.

Sure Sir, but algae is not much on my map, how to get enough fresh algae? Some critters like to eat it now
Was something changed, to reproduce algae easy?

Is there even a need to feed the fish in the current build? they don't die of starvation while they are wild and feeding them to tame them does more harm than good. Further more the Gulp fish variant (the useful one) doesn't even require algae.

Here's my approach on using Gulp fish to purify Ph2o. The only Issue is that the whole sweeper/conveyor system in ONI is bugged out so I have the sweepers turned off. Also at the bottom of each tank i have a layer of crude oil to provide somewhere for the fish to reside should they manage to consume all the Ph2o before the geyser comes out of dormancy.

They spawn with enough calories to survive 18 days and they lay eggs after about 15 cycles, but they don't die as expected. They live to the ripe old age of 25 cycles. Going to regard this as a bug. Should be sustainable when wild with the bug fixed, but they are also a good source of meat. Might be worth taming them to accelerate egg production to get more fish to kill.

Currently taming them will give them a permanent gloomy buff preventing them from ever laying a egg.

That bug has already been discussed. Need to determine how effective they can be after they are functioning correctly.
They also need patched so they can be contained by mesh tiles. Right now there is no easy way to have rooms with shared water.
